Unpack the Mower
1. Cut all four corners of the box from top to bottom.
2. Remove all packing materials from the mower.
3. Locate and identify the items included with the
mower:
 •Mulchingplate
 •Operator’smanual
Raise the Handle Assembly
1. Loosen, but do not remove, the knobs (A, Figure
1) on both sides of the upper handle.
2. Unfold the upper handle so that it is aligned with
the lower handle, and tighten the upper knobs.
3. Raise the lower handle (B). Make sure the lower
handle is between the locking tabs (A, Figure 2).
Tighten the lower knobs (B).

Set Up the Starter Rope Handle
1. Squeeze the blade control (A, Figure 3) against
the handle.
2. Pull the starter rope handle (B) out of the engine to
the rope guide (C). Hook the starter rope into the
rope guide (it might be a tight fit).
