BT Home Monitor ~ 8th Edition ~ 26th March ’03 ~ 5296
REGISTERING AND SETTING UP YOUR
ONLINE ACCOUNT
What do I do to set up my online account?
Your User Guide will provide all the information
you need, as described by our simple 7 step
process.
After installing your system, visit
http://www.myhomemonitoring.bt.com and
follow the simple on-screen instructions to register
your details. To set up your account, you will need
the serial number of your system, which doubles
as a temporary log in name, which can be found
on the Control Panel label.
What is my Log In Name and Password?
Once your have registered with BT Home
Monitoring on the website, you will be informed
by email of your temporary password. When you
log in for the first time, you will need to enter the
serial number of the panel as your log in name
and the temporary password. You will then be
asked to change these details to something more
memorable for you.
Do I need to input my address or the
monitored property address?
As part of the registration process you will need
to enter your personal details, and the details of
the monitored property. This ensures we can
match your alarm system with your address.
Normally the monitored property will be your
home address, and you will be asked to confirm
this. However, you may wish to input a different
monitored property address, such as a holiday
home. In this case you need to confirm your own
address and that of the monitored property.
Who should I use as contacts, and what do
they need to know?
Ideally, you should use someone who lives close
enough to be able to respond if they receive an
alert. You must tell them that they have been
nominated, and explain how the alert system
works and how to respond. (BT provides Contact
Cards in the Customer Information Pack for this
purpose). You should ensure that their contact
details are kept up to date in your online
account. If your Contacts are keyholders you
should explain how to operate the monitoring
system and allocate a User Code (see Section 3
of the User Guide).
Note that contacts should be advised to respond to
all events with caution, particularly where a possible
crime is suspected. Contacts should always call the
emergency services if a crime is in progress.
I don't have an email address.
For security purposes, you must have an email
address, to receive your Log In name, password
and Property Identification Number.
Will my data be safe?
BT will protect your data according to the Privacy
Policy available at:
www.myhomemonitoring.bt.com
Our secure servers ensure the safety of data passed

USAGE
Why do I need a Master Code and User Code?
The Master Code allows access to the System
Profile menu where settings can be changed. The
Master Code is User Code 1. Another 7 users can
be added and given unique PIN numbers.
Users 2 to 8 can only turn the system on and off.
By assigning unique codes it is possible to see
who has responded to an alert and, if you have
activated the Alarm On and Off Status feature
(see Section 3), you can see who has turned you
system on and off and when using your personal
online account.
