Why the oil in my BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C is black?
    • F
      fieldssydneyAug 18, 2025
If the oil in your BUSCH Water Pump is black, it indicates that the oil change intervals are too long or the oil was overheated. Flush the vacuum pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil. If the oil life is too short, use oil with better heat resistance or retrofit cooling.

Why is my BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C running very hot?
    • P
      Patricia StanleyAug 23, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump is running very hot, ensure sufficient air ventilation by cleaning the fan cowling, wheel, ventilation grille, and cooling fins. If installed in a narrow space, ensure adequate ventilation. For pumps with an oil cooler, clean the intermediate spaces of the finned tube. Also, make sure that the permitted ambient and inlet gas temperatures are observed. Replace a partially clogged exhaust filter and top up the oil reservoir if the oil level is low.

What to do if BUSCH Water Pump fumes or expels oil droplets?
    • D
      Derrick MeyersAug 26, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump is emitting fumes or expelling oil droplets through the gas discharge, check the exhaust filter's position and insert it properly. Replace the o-ring if it's missing or damaged, and replace the exhaust filter if it shows cracks or is clogged with foreign matter. For versions with an oil return valve (RB 0006 C/E), regularly shut down the pump for short periods. Ensure the oil return valve functions correctly, allowing oil to flow from the upper to the bottom chamber of the oil separator when the pump is shut down. If the oil return valve isn't working properly or is clogged, clean or replace it.

Why BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C does not start?
    • M
      Michael CarsonAug 28, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump does not start, ensure the drive motor is supplied with the correct voltage. Compare the trip level of the drive motor starter overload protection with the data on the nameplate, and correct if necessary. If the ambient temperature is high, set the trip level 5 percent above the nominal drive motor current. Check the fuses and use a sufficiently dimensioned cable to avoid voltage drop. If the pump or motor is blocked, disconnect the motor from the power supply, remove the fan cover, and try to turn the motor by hand. If the pump is blocked or the drive motor is defective, contact Busch service for repair or replacement.

What to do if BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C runs noisily or rattles?
    • T
      troykelleyAug 31, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump starts but labors, runs noisily, or rattles, check for loose connections in the drive motor terminal box and ensure all motor coils are properly connected. If it's a three-phase motor, verify the pump isn't running in the wrong direction. If the pump has been standing still for weeks or months, let it run warm with the inlet closed. If the oil viscosity is too high for the ambient temperature, use synthetic oil or a lower viscosity class. Ensure proper oil quantity and type. If there hasn't been an oil change in a while, perform one including flushing. If the exhaust filter is clogged and black from burnt oil, flush the pump, replace the filter, and refill with new oil. For foreign objects, broken vanes, or stuck bearings, contact Busch service for repair.

What causes BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C Water Pump to be blocked?
    • E
      Erica SimonSep 2, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump is blocked, this could be due to solid foreign matter entering the pump, corrosion from remaining condensate, running in the wrong direction (for three-phase motors), excessive oil sucked back from the oil separator, or condensate entering the pump chamber. Contact Busch service to repair the vacuum pump. Ensure the suction line is equipped with a screen and, if necessary, provide a filter. Check the process and observe the chapter on conveying condensable vapors. When connecting the pump, ensure it runs in the correct direction. Make sure the vacuum system doesn't exert underpressure on the shut-down pump and prevent condensate from entering by providing a drip leg and drain cock, draining condensate regularly.

Why does my BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C Water Pump run very noisily?
    • C
      Cheryl SnyderSep 5, 2025
If your BUSCH Water Pump runs very noisily, it could be due to defective bearings or stuck vanes. Contact Busch service to repair the vacuum pump. Use only recommended oils and change them more frequently.

Why is the oil in my BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C Water Pump watery and colored white?
    • N
      Natalie GrossSep 7, 2025
If the oil in your BUSCH Water Pump is watery and colored white, it means the pump aspirated water or significant amounts of humidity, or the filter of the gas ballast is clogged. Flush the vacuum pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil. Modify the operational mode. If your version has a gas ballast with a paper filter, replace the filter.

Why does the gas conveyed by BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C smell displeasing?
    • C
      Cynthia StoneSep 10, 2025
If the gas conveyed by your BUSCH Water Pump smells displeasing, it could be due to process components evaporating under vacuum or readily volatile components of the oil. Check the process and use a different type of oil if applicable.

Why is the oil in my BUSCH R5 RB 0006 C resinous and sticky?
    • J
      Johnny HamiltonSep 12, 2025
If the oil in your BUSCH Water Pump is resinous and/or sticky, it's likely due to an improper oil type or topping up with incompatible oil. Flush the vacuum pump, replace the exhaust filter, and fill with new oil. Make sure the proper oil is used for changing and topping up.
