The ButtKicker Power Amplifier BKA-130-C is a dedicated power amplifier designed to drive ButtKicker® low-frequency audio transducers, allowing users to "feel what you've been missing" by adding tactile feedback to various entertainment experiences. This amplifier is specifically engineered to work with a range of ButtKicker transducer models, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Function Description:
The BKA-130-C amplifier takes an audio input signal and converts it into a powerful output that drives ButtKicker transducers, generating haptic feedback. It features controls for adjusting the intensity of the tactile experience and filtering the frequency range to suit different applications and user preferences. The amplifier can be operated via its front panel controls or a wired remote control, offering flexibility in placement and ease of use. It also incorporates safety features such as automatic standby mode to conserve power and protection against electrical shock and overheating.

Front Panel Controls:
- Power Button: Engages and disengages amplifier circuits. A double press turns the amplifier off from full On mode.
- Power Status Indicator (Orange/Green LED):
- Orange: Indicates either Off mode or Standby mode (after 20 minutes of no input signal).
- Green: Indicates full On mode, with all amplifier circuits energized and ready to function. The amplifier automatically switches from Standby (Orange) to On (Green) when an input signal is reapplied.
- Low Filter Cutoff Push Switch: When engaged ('in' position), this filter circuit reduces frequencies below 25Hz (-3dB) at a rolloff rate of 12dB per octave.
- High Cutoff Frequency Control: Active only when the High Cutoff Switch is engaged. This knob determines the frequency above which higher frequencies are rolled off.
- High Cutoff Filter Push Switch: Engages the circuit (including the High Cutoff Frequency Control) that rolls off higher frequencies at a rolloff rate of 12dB per octave.
- Clip Indicator Light (Red LED): Illuminates when the amplifier approaches maximum output, indicating potential clipping.
- Signal Indicator Light (Green LED): Illuminates when an audio signal passes through the circuits to the amplifier's output terminal.
- Volume (-) (+): Short pushes adjust transducer intensity incrementally. Holding the button allows for multiple steps of adjustment. This feature is labeled 'Intensity' on the Remote Control.
- Remote Control Port: Connects the wired remote control.
Rear Panel Connections:
- IEC Type Power Cord Receptacle: For attaching the AC power cord.
- Fuse Holder: Integrated into the power receptacle, contains the active fuse and a spare fuse. Requires removal of the power cord before replacement.
- "Hard" Power Switch: A master switch that removes all AC power from internal circuits, recommended for long periods of disuse.
- Line In/Out (RCA/Phono Jacks):
- Input: For connecting the audio source.
- Output: A wired duplicate of the input, used for "daisy-chaining" up to 4 amplifiers. For more units, an audio distribution amplifier is recommended.
- Speaker Level Output Binding Posts: For attaching speaker wire to the ButtKicker® unit(s). Wire sizes of 14 gauge or larger are recommended. Accepts banana type connectors or bare wire. The amplifier should be turned off before connecting transducers.
Wired Remote Control:
- Connection: Plugs into the "Remote" port on the front panel.
- Power Button: Duplicates the front panel Power Button functionality.
- Intensity Buttons: Duplicate the front panel Volume (-) (+) functionality.
Included Accessories:
- Wired Remote Control
- Base Stand (for vertical amplifier placement)
- AC Power Cord
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: The amplifier housing should be cleaned only with a slightly damp cloth.
- Fuse Replacement: The fuse holder, integrated into the power receptacle, contains a spare fuse. Users should disconnect power before replacing the fuse and use only the same type (T4AL250VAC for 120V).
- Servicing: All servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel, especially if the apparatus is damaged (e.g., power cord damage, liquid spills, exposure to moisture, abnormal operation, or drops).
- Power Management: The amplifier features an automatic standby mode after 20 minutes of no input signal to conserve power. For extended periods of non-use, the "Hard" power switch on the rear panel should be set to OFF.
- Ventilation: Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.
- Surge Protection: The device may be plugged into a surge protector or power strip, but not into an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
- Grounding: The grounding type plug is provided for safety and should not be defeated.
- Stability: When placed on a cart, stand, or table, ensure it is stable enough to accommodate the unit's weight.
