Overview

The BWT Horizontal Inverter Heat Pump is designed for heating and cooling swimming pools, offering an efficient and economical solution for temperature control. It utilizes thermodynamic properties of heat transfer fluids to extract calories from ambient air and transfer them to the pool water. This process makes it significantly more cost-effective than traditional heating methods, potentially reducing heating costs by up to 80%.

Function Description

The heat pump operates by modulating its operating mode to adapt to the swimming pool's heating or cooling demand. Unlike On/Off heat pumps, the Inverter technology allows for variable operation, leading to quieter performance in temperature maintenance mode and extended service life for critical components like the compressor.

The device offers three main operating functions:

  • Auto mode: The machine automatically switches between heating and cooling based on the difference between the actual pool water temperature and the set point. If the water is colder than the set point, heating mode is activated; if warmer, cooling mode is activated. The set temperature can be fixed between 12°C and 40°C in this mode.
  • Heating mode: This function only increases the water temperature. If the water temperature exceeds the set value due to ambient conditions, the heat pump will turn off and will not cool the water. This mode is recommended when the pool water temperature is likely to decrease spontaneously, with a set temperature range of 18°C to 40°C.
  • Cooling mode: This function only decreases the water temperature. If the water temperature falls below the set value due to ambient conditions, the heat pump will turn off and will not heat the water. This mode is recommended when the pool water temperature is likely to increase spontaneously, with a set temperature range of 18°C to 30°C.

The heat pump also features a heating priority function, allowing it to initiate filtration outside programmed cycles if a heating demand is detected. This ensures the pool water temperature is maintained more consistently around the set point.

Usage Features

  • Screen Interface: The device features a clear screen displaying current power, water temperatures at inlet and outlet, set temperature, and operating mode.
  • Lock/Unlock Function: The screen automatically locks after 30 seconds of inactivity. It can be unlocked by pressing the lock/unlock icon for 3 seconds.
  • Operating Modes: Two operating modes are available:
    • Smart Mode: Standard operating mode, modulating heating power between 25% and 100% for rapid temperature adjustment.
    • Silence Mode: Modulates heating power between 25% and 80%, reducing noise emission by 3 dB(A) compared to 100% power operation.
  • Manual Defrosting: In heating and auto functions, operators can manually initiate a defrosting cycle if frost build-up is observed. The device also automatically detects and manages defrosting cycles.
  • Wifi Setting and APP Control: The heat pump can be controlled via a smartphone application ("Smarter Pool").
    • APP Download: Available on Google Play (Android) and App Store (iPhone).
    • Account Registration: Users can register using their cell phone number or email.
    • Family Creation: Allows setting up family names and assigning devices to specific rooms.
    • APP Binding: Connects the heat pump to the app via Wifi. The device's indicator light will flash during the binding process.
    • Remote Control: The app provides a comprehensive interface to monitor and control the heat pump, including power on/off, setting temperature, selecting heating/cooling function, timer, and smart/silence mode.
    • Device Sharing: Allows family members to control the device after registering on the app.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Cleaning: Evaporator fins should be regularly checked for debris (leaves, flowers, pollen) and cleaned with a soft brush and soapy water or ordinary detergents. Solvents should not be used.
  • Condensate Drainage: Condensate drainage tubes should be checked for obstructions. The machine cabinet can be cleaned with soapy water or ordinary detergent.
  • Winterization: For winterizing, electrical power should be cut, isolation valves on the bypass loop closed, and hydraulic unions unscrewed to drain all water. The machine should then be covered.
  • Technical Inspections: An annual inspection by a qualified technician is recommended to check electrical and hydraulic connections and refrigerant circuit for leaks, in compliance with local regulations.
  • Spare Parts: Spare parts specific to BWT heat pumps are guaranteed to be available for at least 5 years from the purchase date.
  • Error Messages: The device displays error codes on the screen for various issues, some of which may trigger an aural alarm. Critical errors will stop the compressor, requiring power disconnection for repair. A troubleshooting table is provided for common issues without error codes.
