This document is an owner's manual for a remote-controlled cooler, specifically designed, molded, and assembled in the USA. The cooler is marketed under the brand "C3 Coolers" and applies to "ROVER" and "TRUCK" models, with styles and colors that may vary.
Function Description
The C3 Remote Control Cooler is a motorized cooler designed to be steered remotely. Its primary function is to transport items, likely beverages and food, while being controlled by a user via a remote control. It features working headlights and integrated speakers for MP3 playback, enhancing its utility and entertainment value. The cooler is intended for adult assembly and operation, emphasizing safety and continuous adult supervision during use.
Important Technical Specifications
- Battery: The cooler is powered by a 12V rechargeable battery (10A).
- Charger: A specific 12V rechargeable battery charger is supplied and must be used.
- Load Capacity: The maximum load weight for the cooler body is 60 lbs.
- Age Range: The recommended age range for users is 16 years and older.
- Assembly Time: Estimated assembly time is 10 minutes.
- Remote Control Batteries: The remote control requires two AAA batteries.
- MP3 Player Port: The cooler includes an MP3 player port for connecting external audio devices.
Usage Features
Assembly:
The assembly process involves several steps:
- Attaching Wheels: The cooler body is placed upside down, and the rear axle is slid through the gearboxes. Wheels and washers are placed on the axle, secured with cotter pins, and the longer end of the cotter pin is bent back with needle-nose pliers. This process is repeated for both rear wheels.
- Attaching Hubcaps: Notches on the hubcaps are aligned with notches on the wheels and gently pressed into place.
- Front Axle Assembly: The front axle assembly is inserted, and cotter pins are used to secure it, with the longer ends bent back.
- Steering Rod Installation: The steering rod is inserted into the gearbox and secured with a bolt and lock nut using a Phillips head screwdriver and wrench.
- Front Wheel Assembly: Similar to the rear wheels, washers and wheels are placed on the front axle, secured with cotter pins, and hubcaps are attached.
- Remote Pairing: The remote control needs to be paired with the cooler. This involves ensuring AAA batteries are installed in the remote, the cooler power is off, pressing and holding the pairing button on the remote until the green indicator light blinks rapidly, and then turning the cooler's main power switch ON. A slight buzz indicates successful pairing.
- Initial Battery Charge: The battery must be charged for 12 hours before first use.
Charging the Battery:
- Locate the battery charger.
- Plug the round end of the charger into the charging port on the back of the cooler.
- Plug the pronged end of the charger into a standard 120V wall outlet (without using an extension cord).
- Charge for 12 hours for a full charge.
- Unplug the charger from the wall and cooler after charging.
- A red light on the cooler indicates the charger is plugged in, while a green light on the charger indicates a full charge (red indicates partial/no charge).
- Recharging typically takes 10-12 hours. Avoid draining the battery completely to prevent permanent damage and voiding the warranty.
- Inspect the charger and charging port for damage before each use.
Cooler Operating Parts and Control Panel Functions:
- Remote Control: Used for steering (right, left, forward, reverse).
- Power Switch: Flips to turn the cooler on ("I") and off ("O").
- Headlight Switch: Flips to turn headlights on ("I") and off ("O").
- Speaker Switch: Flips to turn speakers on ("I") and off ("O").
- MP3 Player Port: For connecting an MP3 player with the included cable.
- Charging Indicator: Red light on the cooler when charging.
Operating Remote Control:
- Direction Controls: "Up" button for forward, "Down" for backward, "Left" for turning left, "Right" for turning right.
- Speed Controls: Pressing the speed button once activates Low speed (one indicator light), twice for Medium speed (two lights), and three times for High speed (three lights).
- Sleep Mode: The remote enters sleep mode after 10-15 seconds of non-use to conserve battery. Any button press reactivates it.
Safety Warnings:
- Adult Assembly: Contains small parts, for adult assembly only. Keep children away during assembly.
- Battery Hazards: Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead compounds (acids) known to cause cancer and reproductive harm; they are toxic and corrosive. Never open the battery. Liquids on the battery can cause fire or electric shock. Explosive gases are created during charging, so charge in a well-ventilated area away from heat/flammable materials. Avoid contact between positive and negative terminals. Pick up the battery by its case/handles, not wires.
- Electrical System: Tampering with the electrical system can cause shock, fire, or explosion. Keep the battery housing closed.
- Battery Leakage: Contact with lead acid leakage can cause serious injury. Seek medical attention immediately if exposure occurs.
- Prohibited Use: Do not use a battery or charger other than the supplied 12V rechargeable battery and charger. Do not use the C3 cooler battery/charger with other products.
- Moving Parts: Keep hands, legs, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts. Always wear shoes.
- Environment: Use in a safe, secure environment with continuous adult supervision. Avoid streets, motor vehicles, drop-offs, water bodies, sloped surfaces, hills, wet areas, flammable vapors, alleys, night, or dark conditions.
- Unsafe Conditions: Avoid snow, rain, loose dirt, mud, wet sand, or fine gravel, as this can cause tipping, skidding, and damage.
- Prohibited Actions: Do not ride on, sit on, or stand on the cooler. Do not pull the cooler with another vehicle. Do not overload (max 60 lbs). Do not operate outside your line of sight or at unsafe speeds. Do not operate at night or drive into people/objects.
- Unattended Operation: Never leave the cooler unattended. Direct adult supervision is REQUIRED.
- Storage: Park indoors or cover with a tarp to protect from wet weather. Keep away from heat sources. Avoid prolonged sun exposure to prevent fading.
- Cleaning: Do not wash with a hose or immerse in water.
Maintenance Features
- Wheel Tightness: Regularly check the tightness of the wheels.
- Battery Charge: Ensure the battery is properly charged before use.
- Lubrication: Occasionally use lightweight oil to lubricate moving parts like wheels and steering linkage. Do not oil plastic parts.
- Storage: Store the cooler indoors or cover it with a tarp to protect it from wet weather and heat sources. Avoid prolonged sun exposure.
- Cleaning: Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Use non-wax furniture polish for plastic parts. Do not use car wax, abrasive cleaners, or wash with soap and water, as water can damage the motor, electrical system, and battery.
- Battery Storage: Store the battery between -10°F and 75°F on a wood surface (not cement floors, which can cause discharge). Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Charge at least once per month.
