How loud is the detonation?
There is a short-lived, loud noise on detona-
tion but it will not damage your hearing. For
a short time afterwards you could experi-
ence a buzzing or ringing noise in your ears.
Most people who have experienced this do
not remember the noise of the detonation -
only the noise of the collision itself.
Can I have a child seat in the front seat if the
car has a passenger airbag?
Definitely not! The force and speed with
which the airbag inflates would propel the
child seat violently backwards, which could
cause serious or fatal injuries to the child.
What should I do if the airbag warning light
comes on?
The airbag system’s diagnostics function
has detected a fault. Proper function of the
system cannot be guaranteed and the
system could be activated erroneously. Visit
a workshop immediately. We recommend
that you contact an authorised Cadillac
workshop.
Are the dust and fumes given off when the
airbag operates at all harmful?
Most people who have remained in a car
with little or no ventilation for several min-
utes normally only suffer mild throat or eye
irritation. Try, if possible, not to get dust on
your skin as it can cause irritation.
In case of persistent irritation, consult a
doctor.
If you suffer from asthma, the incident may
bring on an attack, in which case you should
follow the normal procedure advised by
your doctor. It is advisable to consult a
doctor afterwards.
