Overview

This document is a Convenience & Personalization Guide for the 2017 Cadillac XTS, providing an overview of its key features and how to use them. It covers various aspects of the vehicle, including the instrument panel, keyless entry and access, adaptive remote start, steering wheel controls, instrument cluster, driver information center, head-up display, touch screen and controls, Cadillac CUE menus and features, OnStar with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi, wireless charging, voice recognition, navigation, vehicle personalization (including Teen Driver and Valet Mode), exterior lighting, windshield wipers, power mirrors, UltraView sunroof, power door locks/safety locks, trunk release, memory seats, electric parking brake, automatic transmission tap shift, StabiliTrak/Traction Control Systems, Automatic Parking Assist, Driver Assistance Systems (including Driver Awareness Package and Driver Assist Package), over-the-air software updates, tires (Tire Pressure Monitor and Tire Sealant and Compressor Kit), and owner privileges (Roadside Assistance, Customer Assistance, Cadillac Online Owner Center, myCadillac and OnStar Mobile Apps, and Cadillac CUE Support).

Instrument Panel

The instrument panel provides essential controls and information. Key components include:

  • Electric Parking Brake Switch: Engages and disengages the electric parking brake.
  • Head-Up Display Controls: Adjust the position, brightness, and display mode of the Head-Up Display.
  • Turn Signal Lever/Exterior Lamps Control: Activates turn signals and controls exterior lighting.
  • Instrument Cluster/Driver Information Center: Displays vehicle information such as speed, trip data, compass, fuel range, oil life, and tire pressure.
  • Windshield Wipers Lever: Controls windshield wiper speed and washer fluid.
  • Hazard Warning Flashers/Traction Control and StabiliTrak/Lane Departure Warning or Lane Keep Assist Buttons: Activates hazard lights and controls stability and lane assistance systems.
  • Cadillac CUE Touch Screen: The central interface for infotainment, navigation, climate, and vehicle settings.
  • Glove Box/Parking Assist Buttons: Controls glove box access and parking assist features.
  • Audio System Controls: Manages audio functions.
  • Power Mirrors Control: Adjusts exterior mirrors.

Keyless Entry and Access System

The Remote Keyless Entry transmitter allows locking/unlocking doors, remote vehicle start, and vehicle location/panic alarm.

  • Lock: Press once to lock all doors.
  • Unlock: Press once to unlock the driver's door, press again within 5 seconds to unlock all doors. Press and hold to lower all windows.
  • Remote Vehicle Start: Use to start the engine from outside the vehicle. Press and release the Lock button, then immediately press and hold the Remote Start button. The engine runs for 10 minutes and can be extended once.
  • Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm: Press and release to locate the vehicle (lamps flash, horn sounds). Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate the alarm.
  • Trunk Release: Press twice to open the trunk. The Keyless Access System allows door, ignition, and trunk operation without removing the transmitter from your pocket or purse, provided it's within 3 feet.
  • Keyless Unlocking: Press the lock button on the driver's door handle to unlock the driver's door, press again within 5 seconds for all doors. Press the lock button on a passenger door handle to unlock all doors. Press the touch pad above the license plate to open the trunk.
  • Keyless Locking: With ignition off and doors closed, press the lock button on any door handle to lock all doors. If Passive Locking is on, doors lock automatically after a short delay.

Keyless Start and Adaptive Remote Start

  • Keyless Start: With the vehicle in Park or Neutral, press the brake pedal and then the ENGINE START/STOP button to start the engine. The green indicator illuminates. The transmitter must be in the vehicle. If the transmitter battery is weak, place it in the depression below the Accessory Power Outlet in the center console.
  • Stop/Off: Shift to Park and press the ENGINE START/STOP button to turn off the engine. Power remains available for 10 minutes for audio until the driver's door is opened, and for windows/sunroof until any door is opened.
  • Accessory Mode: With the engine off and brake pedal not depressed, press the ENGINE START/STOP button to enter Accessory mode (yellow indicator illuminates).
  • Adaptive Remote Start Climate Control: During remote start, the automatic climate control system operates at the last setting.
  • Adaptive Remote Start Heated/Ventilated Seats: If selected in Vehicle Settings, heated/ventilated seats operate during remote start but indicators do not illuminate. Performance may be reduced for unoccupied seats. They turn off when the vehicle is turned on; press the button again for operation.

Steering Wheel Controls

  • Cruise Control:
    • On/Off: Activates/deactivates cruise control.
    • SET Set Speed: Press down fully to set speed.
    • RES Resume Speed: Press up fully to resume previous set speed.
    • + - Adjust Speed: Press lightly up/down for 1 mph increments, fully up/down for 5 mph increments.
    • Cancel: Cancels cruise control without erasing set speed.
    • Following Gap (Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Alert): Press repeatedly to select Far, Medium, Near, or Off.
  • Voice Recognition:
    • Push to Talk: Interacts with OnStar, Bluetooth, or Cadillac CUE.
    • End Call/Mute: Ends/rejects calls or mutes audio.
  • 5-Way Control: Moves left/right, up/down, and in to navigate cluster displays or menu options.
    • Left/Right: Navigates cluster display or menu options.
    • Up/Down: Scrolls through menus.
    • SEL Select: Selects highlighted menu item.
  • Audio Controls:
    • + - Volume: Increases/decreases volume.
    • Next/Previous: Selects next/previous favorite radio station, track, or file.
  • Heated Steering Wheel: On/Off control.

Instrument Cluster

The 12.3-inch reconfigurable cluster displays various information.

  • Cluster Display Zones: Use the 5-way control to navigate and select between available display zones.
  • Uplevel Cluster Configurations: Select alternative cluster displays (including Vsport-specific) via the Options page in the cluster.
    1. View Options page using 5-way control.
    2. Press SEL to enter Options menu.
    3. Scroll down to highlight Display Layout; press SEL.
    4. Scroll up or down to highlight desired display; press SEL.
    5. Press to exit menu.

Driver Information Center (DIC)

The DIC displays vehicle information. Default displays include digital speedometer, trip odometers, fuel range, average fuel economy, compass, oil life, and tire pressure.

  • Info Pages Menu:
    1. Use 5-way control to view Options page.
    2. Press SEL to enter Options menu.
    3. Scroll down to highlight Info Pages; press SEL.
    4. Scroll up or down to move through the list.
    5. Press SEL to select/deselect a display item.

Head-Up Display (HUD)

The HUD projects select vehicle operating information onto the windshield. Controls are on the left side of the instrument panel.

  • Position Adjustment: Lift up or press down to adjust image position (not side-to-side).
  • Display Selection: Press to select from Speed View, Audio/Phone View, Navigation View, and Performance View.
  • Brightness Adjustment: Lift up or press down to brighten/dim. Hold down to turn off.

Touch Screen and Controls (Cadillac CUE)

The Cadillac CUE system is a central interface for entertainment, communication, and vehicle settings. It uses capacitive technology.

  • Applications: Touch icons (Audio, Phone, Projection, Nav, SMS, Settings, Climate, Text, OnStar) to access features.
  • Volume: Touch arrows or swipe finger above the chrome bar.
  • Cadillac CUE Power On/Off: Turns the system on/off.
  • Driver's Temperature Control: Adjusts driver's climate.
  • OFF (Climate Control Power Off): Turns off climate control.
  • Driver's Heated/Ventilated Seat Control: Controls driver's seat heating/ventilation.
  • AUTO (Automatic Operation): Automatic climate control.
  • Defrost Mode: Activates defrost.
  • Additional Pages: Touch to view more application pages.
  • Interaction Selector: Touch to display favorites list.
  • Home Page: Returns to the home screen.
  • Passenger's Temperature Control: Adjusts passenger's climate.
  • Fan Control: Adjusts fan speed.
  • Passenger's Heated/Ventilated Seat Control: Controls passenger's seat heating/ventilation.
  • Recirculation Mode: Activates air recirculation.
  • Rear Window Defog: Activates rear window defogger.
  • Storage Compartment (with USB port and Wireless Charging): Press and hold the bright bar to open/close.

Cadillac CUE Menus and Features

Cadillac CUE offers various entertainment, communication, and vehicle system options. It supports smartphone-like gestures (tap, drag, pinch, spread).

  • Audio: Radio Band, Media, Seek Up/Down, Tune/Play, Browse, Menu.
  • Navigation: Zoom Out, Zoom In, Reset, Destination, Map Menu, Seek Up/Down.
  • Phone: Voice Recognition, Contacts, Recent, Keypad, Voice Mail, Phones. Press and hold Push to Talk button for Handset Voice Recognition.
  • Climate: Driver/Vehicle Set Temperature, Passenger Set Temperature, Sync Temperature Settings, A/C Mode, Automatic Climate On/Off, Air Distribution Settings, Front/Rear Settings, Fan Speed.
  • Settings: Time and Date, Language, Valet Mode, Radio, Vehicle, Bluetooth, Phone Integration, Voice, Display, Return to Factory Settings.

Cadillac CUE Features

  • Setting the Time: Access via Settings > Time and Date > Set Time. Adjust hours, minutes, AM/PM. Auto Set feature updates time automatically via cellular network.
  • Storing Favorites: Store radio stations (AM, FM, XM), tone settings, phone contacts, and navigation destinations. Display item, drag up Interaction Selector, touch and hold a favorite screen button.
  • CD Player (Dealer-Installed Accessory): Located in the glove box. Touch Media until CD is displayed to play a disc.
  • Portable Audio Devices: USB ports in front console and center console storage. Connect iPod®, iPhone®, MP3 player, USB flash drive. Touch Media to access.
  • Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™: Allows use of select smartphone apps. Projection icon appears on home page. No app needed for CarPlay; Android Auto app required. Connect smartphone via USB cable. Projection icon changes to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

OnStar® with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi®

Connects up to seven devices to high-speed Internet via the vehicle's built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.

  • SSID and Password: Press OnStar Voice Command button, say "Wi-Fi settings."
  • Assistance: Press blue OnStar button or call 1-888-4-ONSTAR.

Bluetooth® System

Pairs Bluetooth-enabled devices for hands-free operation. Pairing is disabled when the vehicle is moving.

  • Pair a Phone:
    1. Press Push to Talk button and say "Pair Phone," or select Phone > Pair Device on touch screen.
    2. Start pairing on phone, locate Cadillac CUE.
    3. Confirm codes on touch screen and phone.
    4. Phone screen displays, phone book may download.

Wireless Charging

Located in the storage compartment behind climate controls.

  1. Vehicle must be On.
  2. Remove all objects from charging pad.
  3. Place mobile device face up on the symbol.
  4. Move device slowly until battery charging symbol displays on CUE screen.

Voice Recognition

Controls music source, navigation, and phone calls hands-free.

  • Activation: Press Push to Talk button.
  • Commands: "Call Amanda," "Play artist [name]," "Tune FM 104.3," "Destination Address," "Help."
  • Handset Voice Recognition: Press and hold Push to Talk button to activate Siri or Voice Command on paired phone.

Enter destinations using the Single Line Destination feature.

  1. Touch Navigation on home page.
  2. Touch Destination.
  3. Type address, intersection, or road.
  4. Touch Go.
  5. Select desired name from list.
  6. Touch Go.

Vehicle Personalization

Customize vehicle features via the audio system's Vehicle Settings menu.

  • Settings: Climate and Air Quality, Collision/Detection Systems, Comfort and Convenience, Lighting, Power Door Locks, Remote Locking, Unlocking and Starting.
  • Process:
    1. Touch Settings on home page.
    2. Touch Vehicle.
    3. Touch desired menu item.
    4. Touch desired feature and setting.
    5. Touch < BACK to exit.

Teen Driver

Allows registering multiple keys for beginning drivers. Activates safety systems, sets features, limits use. Records driving behavior in a Report Card.

  • Setup: Go to Settings > Teen Driver to create PIN, register key, change settings, or access Report Card.

Valet Mode

Locks/unlocks various vehicle features. Select Valet Mode under Vehicle Settings and enter a passcode.

Exterior Lighting

  • On/Off: Turns exterior lights on/off.
  • AUTO Automatic Light Control: Activates Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) or headlamps based on light conditions, including IntelliBeam® automatic high-beam system.
  • Parking Lamps: Activates parking lamps.
  • Headlamps: Activates headlamps.
  • Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL): Pivots headlamps left/right with travel direction (operates in AUTO position, above 2 mph, after calibration).

Windshield Wipers

  • HI Fast Wipes: Highest speed.
  • LO Slow Wipes: Lower speed.
  • INT Intermittent (Rainsense™ Sensitivity): Activates Rainsense wipers. Rotate INT band to adjust automatic cycling based on moisture.
  • OFF: Wipers off.
  • 1x Single Wipe: Single wipe.
  • Washer Fluid: Pull lever to spray fluid.

Power Mirrors

  • Power Mirror Adjustment: Move selector switch (L/R) to select mirror, then use 4-way control to adjust.
  • Power Folding Mirrors: Press button to fold/unfold exterior mirrors.
  • Reverse Tilt Mirror: Tilts driver/passenger mirrors down in Reverse for improved visibility. Settings can be changed in Comfort and Convenience in Vehicle Settings.

UltraView Sunroof

  • Open/Close Sunshade: Press rear or front of Sunshade switch (A) to express-open or express-close.
  • Open/Close Sunroof: Press and hold front of Sunroof switch (B) to vent. Press rear of switch to express-open to comfort position. Press front of switch to express-close.

Power Door Locks/Safety Locks

  • Lock/Unlock: Press power door Lock/Unlock button on driver's door.
  • Manual Unlock: Pull inside door handle once to unlock, again to open.
  • Safety Locks: Press button on driver's door to prevent rear doors from opening from inside and disable rear power windows.

Trunk Release

  • Inside: Press Trunk Release button on driver's door.
  • Outside: Press touch pad above license plate (vehicle must be unlocked or transmitter within range).

Memory Seats

  • Set Memory Positions: With ignition on or in Accessory mode:
    1. Adjust driver's seat, mirrors, steering column.
    2. Press and release SET button, then immediately press and hold button 1 until two beeps sound.
    3. Repeat for button 2.
  • Set Exit Position:
    1. Adjust driver's seat, mirrors, steering column.
    2. Press and release SET button, then immediately press and hold Exit button until two beeps sound.
  • Recall Positions: Press button 1, 2, or Exit. If moving, press and hold until seat and mirrors reach position.
  • Passenger Memory Seat: Operates same as driver's seat, controls on passenger's door.
  • Additional Driver's Seat Adjustments:
    • Feature Selection: Press and release tab on Feature Select control knob to display adjustments on CUE screen. Press and hold to scroll.
    • Adjustment: Use 4-way control pad to adjust up, down, forward, rearward.
  • Massage: With ignition on, press massage control on driver's seat to recall last massage type and intensity.

Electric Parking Brake

  • Apply: Pull Parking Brake switch on left side of instrument panel.
  • Release: Turn on ignition, press brake pedal, then press switch.

Automatic Transmission Tap Shift

The 6-speed automatic transmission has a Tap Shift mode.

  • Using Tap Shift:
    1. Move shift lever to M (Manual Mode).
    2. Use buttons on back of steering wheel: left (-) for downshift, right (+) for upshift. Current gear shown in DIC and HUD.
    • Shift will not occur if vehicle speed is too high/low. Transmission automatically shifts to 1st gear when stopping.

StabiliTrak®/Traction Control Systems

  • Traction Control: Limits wheelspin.
  • StabiliTrak: Assists with directional control in difficult conditions.
  • Both systems turn on automatically with vehicle start.
  • Turn Off: Press Traction Control/StabiliTrak button on instrument panel (Traction Control Off light illuminates).
  • Turn On: Press button again.

Automatic Parking Assist

Steers vehicle for parallel or perpendicular parking.

  • Activation: Press P™ Automatic Parking Assist button on instrument panel.
  • Parking Type: Press and hold P button to switch between parallel/perpendicular.
  • Operation: Shift into Reverse or Drive as directed, apply accelerator/brake. "Parking Complete" displays when maneuver is done.

Driver Assistance Systems

Use advanced technologies for collision avoidance with visual, audible, and/or seat vibration alerts.

  • Driver Awareness Package:
    • Safety Alert Seat: Driver's seat pulses (left, right, or simultaneously) for potential hazards. Audible alerts can be selected instead (Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Alert Type).
    • Forward Collision Alert: Green indicator when vehicle detected, amber when too close. Red alert flashes on windshield and seat pulses if approaching too rapidly. Set timing or turn off via Following Gap button on steering wheel.
    • Side Blind Zone Alert: Warning symbol displays in side mirror when vehicle detected in blind spot. Turn on/off via Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Side Blind Zone Alert.
    • Rear Cross Traffic Alert: With vehicle in Reverse, Surround Vision displays bird's-eye view and rear view on CUE screen. Warning of approaching cross traffic displays on screen and seat pulses. Turn on/off via P▲ Parking Assist button (also controls Parking Assist and Rear Automatic Braking).
    • Lane Keep Assist (Front-Wheel-Drive): Green indicator when marked lane detected. If vehicle crosses lane, indicator changes to amber and system gently turns steering wheel to assist. Override by turning steering wheel. Turn on/off via Lane Keep Assist button.
    • Lane Departure Warning (All-Wheel-Drive): Amber symbol flashes and seat pulses if crossing lane marking without turn signal. Override by turning steering wheel. Turn on/off via Lane Departure Warning button.
  • Driver Assist Package (Includes Driver Awareness Package):
    • Front and Rear Automatic Braking: Automatically applies brakes in potential collision situations. Turn Front Automatic Braking on/off via Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Auto Collision Preparation.     • Adaptive Cruise Control: Maintains driver-selected speed and following gap. Set gap via Following Gap button on steering wheel.

Over-the-Air Software Updates

Infotainment system downloads and installs software updates via wireless Internet (OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot or secured Wi-Fi hotspot).

  • Prompts: System prompts for high priority updates.
  • Manual Check: Settings > Software Information > System Update.

Tires

  • Tire Pressure Monitor: (!) Low Tire Pressure warning light illuminates when tire is underinflated. Fill to proper pressures (listed on Tire and Loading Information label). Current pressures viewable in DIC.
  • Tire Sealant and Compressor Kit: Temporarily seals small punctures in tread area. Located under trunk floor.

Owner Privileges

  • Roadside Assistance (1-800-224-1400, TTY 1-888-889-2438): Provides towing, jump-starting, lock-out service, fuel delivery, flat tire assistance for 6 years/70,000 miles. OnStar subscribers can use the OnStar button for GPS-assisted help.
  • Customer Assistance (1-800-458-8006): For questions and information.
  • Cadillac Online Owner Center (my.cadillac.com): Access Owner Manual, videos, service history, warranty status, OnStar reports.
  • myCadillac and OnStar Mobile Apps: Connects owners to vehicle info and services (searchable Owner Manual, fuel info, Roadside Assistance). Download OnStar RemoteLink app for remote start/stop, lock/unlock, vehicle location (5 years of select features from delivery date).
  • Cadillac CUE Support (1-885-4-CUE-NOW): For infotainment system information or assistance.
