TECHNICAL DATA SHEET FOR
MODEL BEF- 5 BEAM END FITTINGS
The top rigging capacity must be sized to account for the top rigging angle and must be capable of lifting the
beam capacity plus the additional weight of the beam. The beam weight is equal to 90 pounds (The weight of two
beam end fittings) plus 15 pounds per foot of pipe (The weight of 5" nominal size Schedule 40 ERW pipe (A53,
Grade B, Schedule 40 Pipe) 5.563" OD, .258" Wall.

Top Rigging Capacity Chart Table 2.
Example: If a spreader beam of 8 Ton capacity with a spread of 22 ft. and a minimum of 45º top rigging
angle is needed, the top rigging capacity must be sized as follows: The required length of the 5" nominal
size Schedule 40 ERW pipe (A53, Grade B, Schedule 40 Pipe) from table 4 is 253 inches or
approximately 21.1 ft long. The Beam capacity = 16,000 lbs. The beam weight is 90 lbs + (15 lb/ft X
21.1 ft) = 407 lbs.
The total top rigging minimum capacity is 16,000 lbs + 407 lbs. = 16,407 lbs.
Based on the chart in table 2. for a 45º top rigging angle it is required to use ½” Grade 80 alloy chain or
7/8” 6X19 Extra Improved Plow with Independent Wire Rope Core wire sling.
