Portable Air Filtration
System
Instruction Manual
Read and keep this manual for reference purposes
Congratulations on your purchase of a Model 300
portable air filtration system! With proper care and
maintenance your Model 300 will provide years of
reliable service and improve the quality of your air.
Operating Instructions
Set the unit down on a dresser, desk or other piece of sturdy
furniture.
Using the adapter cord, insert the small plug into the receptacle at
the back of the unit. Plug the other end into a wall receptacle.
Choose a speed setting and let the unit run continuously.
PLEASE NOTE:
THE FIRST TIME YOU USE YOUR Model 300 let the unit run on
the high-speed setting for several hours before using the room.
This gives the unit time to stir up and filter out excess dust. It is
also a good idea to vacuum and dust the room before using the
unit for the first time. After the initial cleaning period, let the unit run
continuously. Use the high-speed setting for maximum
performance.
The AC ADAPTOR may feel fairly warm to the touch when it is
plugged into a wall receptacle. This is normal.
DO NOT SIT ON THE UNIT OR PLACE ANYTHING HEAVY ON
TOP OF IT.
Cleaning your Model 300
Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the unit. You can also use a non-
abrasive cleaner. Do not let water get into the filters or the
motor/fan housing.
About Model 300 three-stage filtration and
changing filters
Stage 1: Washable Prefilter
The prefilter prolongs the life of the HEPA filter by removing large
particulates before they can reach the HEPA filter. Clean the
prefilter when it starts becoming visibly covered with dust. Wash it
in your washing machine or hand-wash it with warm water and
detergent. Let it dry thoroughly before replacing it.
Two prefilters are provided. Use the second prefilter while the other
is drying.
Change the prefilter if it no longer fits snugly, or it gets
damaged.
Stage 2: HEPA Cartridge
HEPA media with 99.97% efficiency @ 0.3 microns.
Replace every 2-5 years depending on usage and your
environment - e.g. smoking vs. nonsmoking
Stage 3: V.O.C. Filter
The V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compound) filter removes household
chemicals that may off-gas from household cleaners, paints,
solvents, carpets, furniture and other materials containing chemical
substances.
Replace every 6-12 months depending on usage.

Overview

The Model 300 Portable Air Filtration System is a three-stage air purification device designed to improve indoor air quality. It is a compact unit, measuring 8.5" in diameter and 7.5" in height, and weighing 5 lbs. The system is housed in a durable 24-gauge cold-rolled steel casing with a powder-coated baked enamel finish, available in black or white.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Model 300 is to filter airborne particulates and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from a room. It operates by drawing in air through an upper intake section, passing it through a three-stage filter cartridge, and then releasing clean air through a 330-degree perimeter outflow in the lower section. The system is designed for continuous operation, powered by an efficient motor/fan that uses only 4.5 watts and has been run-tested for 35,000 hours. It features a 3-position, 2-speed switch for control.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 8.5" D x 7.5" H
  • Weight: 5 lbs.
  • Air Flow (C.F.M.): 20 and 40
  • Service Area: 75-150 sq.ft. (based on 2 to 4 air change-overs per hour, recommended for people with sensitivities)
  • Power Consumption: 4.5 Watts
  • HEPA Surface Area: 19 sq.ft.
  • Materials: 24 gauge cold rolled steel
  • Finish: Powder coated baked enamel
  • Color: Black or White
  • Classification: Portable HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) 100% Sealed Air Cleaning Device, U.L. and C.S.A. approved.
  • Motor/Fan: Designed for continuous operation, run tested for 35,000 hours.
  • Control: 3-position, 2-speed switch.

Usage Features:

To operate the Model 300, it should be placed on a sturdy surface like a dresser or desk. The small plug of the adapter cord is inserted into the receptacle at the back of the unit, and the other end is plugged into a wall receptacle. Users can then choose a speed setting for continuous operation.

Initial Setup Recommendation: For the first use, it is recommended to run the unit on the high-speed setting for several hours before occupying the room. This allows the unit to circulate and filter out excess dust. It's also advisable to vacuum and dust the room before initial use. After this initial cleaning period, the unit should be run continuously, with the high-speed setting recommended for maximum performance. The AC adaptor may feel warm during operation, which is normal. Users are advised not to sit on the unit or place heavy objects on top of it.

Maintenance Features:

The Model 300 employs a three-stage filtration system, each with specific maintenance requirements:

  1. Stage 1: Washable Prefilter:

    • Function: Prolongs the life of the HEPA filter by capturing large particulates.
    • Maintenance: Clean the prefilter when it becomes visibly covered with dust. It can be washed in a washing machine or hand-washed with warm water and detergent. It must be thoroughly dried before reinstallation. Two prefilters are provided, allowing one to be used while the other dries.
    • Replacement: Replace the prefilter if it no longer fits snugly or becomes damaged.
    • Replacement Procedure: Turn off and unplug the unit. Remove the used prefilter and discard it in a plastic bag. Align the seam of the new prefilter with the receptacle at the back of the unit, then pull it over the unit to snugly cover the screen. Plug in and turn on the unit.
  2. Stage 2: HEPA Cartridge:

    • Function: Contains HEPA media with 99.97% efficiency at 0.3 microns, removing fine particulates.
    • Maintenance: This filter is not washable.
    • Replacement: Replace every 2-5 years, depending on usage and environmental factors (e.g., smoking vs. non-smoking).
    • Replacement Procedure: Turn off and unplug the unit. Turn the unit upside down. While holding the HEPA cartridge, pull the motor/fan housing away. Discard the old cartridge in a plastic bag. Sit the motor/fan housing right side up and seat the gasket in the groove. Place the new HEPA cartridge on the motor/fan housing, aligning the plugs in the cartridge with the holes in the housing. Press firmly on the top of the cartridge to secure it to the housing. Plug in and turn on the unit.
  3. Stage 3: V.O.C. Filter (Volatile Organic Compound Filter):

    • Function: Removes household chemicals that off-gas from cleaners, paints, solvents, carpets, furniture, and other materials.
    • Maintenance: This filter is not washable.
    • Replacement: Replace every 6-12 months, depending on usage.
    • Replacement Procedure: Turn off and unplug the unit. Turn the unit upside down. While holding the HEPA cartridge, pull the motor/fan housing off. Remove the used V.O.C. filter and discard it in a plastic bag. Roll the new V.O.C. filter into a cylinder smaller than the opening in the HEPA cartridge. Insert the V.O.C. filter all the way into the well and spread it open against the HEPA filter. Sit the motor/fan housing right side up and seat the gasket in the groove. Place the HEPA cartridge on the motor/fan housing and align the plugs in the cartridge with the holes in the housing. Press firmly on the top of the cartridge to secure it to the housing. Plug in and turn on the unit.

General Cleaning: The exterior of the unit can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth or a non-abrasive cleaner. Care should be taken to prevent water from entering the filters or the motor/fan housing.

Warranty: The motor/fan component is warranted for FIVE (5) YEARS from the date of purchase. All other components (except filters) are warranted for ONE (1) YEAR. The warranty is void if operations other than those recommended in the manual are performed, or if unauthorized personnel attempt to service or modify the unit. Warranty service is available by bringing or sending the unit, postage prepaid, with proof of purchase to the vendor.
