Overview

This document is a user manual for the Candy CDB 264 Washer Dryer, a domestic appliance designed for washing and drying laundry.

Function Description

The Candy CDB 264 is a combined washer and dryer with a washing capacity of 6 kg and a drying capacity of 4 kg. It offers various washing and drying programs tailored to different fabric types and soiling levels.

Washing Functions:

  • Programme Selector: A rotary knob with an "OFF" position to select different wash cycles. The "STOP" indicator light flashes when a program is selected and remains on until the cycle ends or the machine is turned off.
  • "DELAY START" Button: Allows users to delay the start of a wash cycle by 3, 6, or 9 hours. An indicator light blinks to show the selected delay time.
  • "SPIN SELECTION" Button: Adjusts or cancels the spin speed to suit different fabrics. The machine automatically displays the maximum possible spin speed for a selected program. A special electronic device prevents the spin cycle if the load is unbalanced, reducing noise and vibration.
  • "STAIN BLASTER" Button: Available for Cotton cycles, this feature uses sensors to maintain a constant temperature and adjusts drum rotation speeds to maximize cleaning action, especially when detergent is introduced and during wash/rinse phases, without increasing program length.
  • "ALLERGY CARE" Button: Activates a special wash cycle in Cotton and Mixed Fabrics programs. It uses a larger quantity of water and specific drum rotation cycles to ensure thorough cleaning and rinsing, removing detergent traces, ideal for delicate and sensitive skin, children's clothing, and towelling.
  • "COLD WASH" Button: Transforms any program into a cold wash without altering other characteristics like water level or times. Suitable for curtains, small carpets, man-made delicate fabrics, and non-colorfast garments.
  • "FAST IRON" Button: Minimizes creases with a specially designed anti-crease system, particularly useful for Mixed Fabrics, Delicate Fabrics, and Woollens/Hand Wash programs. For Delicate and Woollens/Hand Wash, the load is held in water after the final rinse to prevent creasing.
  • "Start/Pause" Button: Initiates the selected cycle. It can also be used to pause a program for about two seconds to add or remove items, after which the program can be restarted.
  • "DOOR SECURITY" Indicator Light: Illuminates when the door is fully closed and the machine is ON. It flashes momentarily when "Start/Pause" is pressed with the door closed. A safety device prevents the door from opening immediately after a cycle; the light goes out after about 2 minutes.

Drying Functions:

  • "DRYING SELECTION" Button: Selects the desired drying program. Indicators display the chosen drying result (Extra Dry, Cupboard Dry, Iron Dry) or timed drying duration (120, 90, 60, 30 minutes).
  • Automatic Drying Programmes: The washer-dryer calculates the drying time based on load and desired dryness level.
  • Timed Drying Programmes: Allows manual selection of drying duration.
  • Cool Down Phase: Activated during the last 10 minutes of each drying phase to minimize creasing.
  • Low Heat Drying: For synthetics and mixed fibers.
  • High Heat Drying: For cottons and linen items.
  • WASH'N DRY 59' Cycle: A quick 59-minute wash, rinse, spin, and dry cycle for light 1.5kg loads (e.g., 4 shirts) or slightly dirty fabrics.
  • Automatic Washing/Drying Cycle: Allows for a continuous wash and dry program. Users select the wash program, then the desired dryness level. The machine completes both cycles automatically.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Washing Load Capacity: Max 6 kg
  • Drying Load Capacity: Max 4 kg
  • Water Pressure: 0.05 ÷ 0.8 MPa
  • Dimensions:
    • Width: 60 cm
    • Depth: 54 cm
    • Height: 82 cm
  • Electrical Data: Refer to the data panel on the front of the washing machine.
  • Power Supply: 13 Amp socket, BS 1362 ASTA approved fuse.
  • Compliance: European Directives 73/23/EEC, 89/336/EEC, 2006/95/EC, and 2004/108/EC.

Usage Features

  • Loading Laundry: Open the porthole, load laundry, and ensure no items obstruct the lock before closing.
  • Detergent Dispenser: Split into three compartments: "I" for prewash, "II" for main wash, and "flower symbol" for special additives (fabric softeners, starch, etc.). Liquid products for the "flower symbol" compartment are taken up during the final rinse.
  • Detergent Dosage: Depends on water hardness, degree of soiling, and laundry amount. Powder detergents are recommended for hot washes and heavily soiled items. Liquid detergents are suitable for grease stains and programs without prewash. Water softeners, prewash substances, and fabric softeners can also be used.
  • Sorting Laundry: Sort by fabric type, soiling, and wash temperature. Check garment labels. Remove metal objects, button pillowcases, fasten zips, and remove curtain hooks.
  • Auto Half Load: The machine automatically adjusts water levels based on the load, optimizing water and electricity consumption without compromising washing results.
  • Water Connection: Connects to cold water supply only using new hose-sets. The discharge hose must be positioned between 50 cm and 85 cm from the ground.
  • Door Security: A safety device prevents the door from opening immediately after a cycle. Wait 2 minutes after the wash cycle finishes for the "Door Security" light to go out.
  • Power Interruption Memory: If power is interrupted during operation, the machine stores the selected program and resumes when power is restored.
  • Drying Recommendations: Only dry pre-spun laundry. Do not dry foam rubber or flammable materials. Reduce load for large or absorbent items. Avoid drying fabrics that fray easily. The drum accelerates during drying to optimize performance.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning the Detergent Drawer: Pull out the drawer firmly, clean under running water, and replace.
  • Cleaning the Door Glass: Regularly clean with a damp cloth to prevent soiling and residues from accumulating, which could lead to water leaks. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Transport and Storage: If transporting or storing in unheated places, drain all remaining water from hoses. Ensure mains power is off before draining. Keep transit screws for future transport.
  • Leveling the Machine: Use the four adjustable feet to ensure the machine stands firmly on the ground, locking them in place by turning the nut anti-clockwise.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a section to help users identify and remedy common malfunctions (e.g., machine not starting, not filling with water, not draining, vibrations, door not opening).
  • Customer Service: Contact details for Gias Service and Support Service are provided for issues not resolved by troubleshooting.
