Do you have a question about the Car-O-Liner EVO and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The EVO Universal Holding and Fixturing System is a comprehensive solution designed for vehicle body repair, offering anchoring, holding, and fixturing capabilities. It is supported by the Vision2 X3 software, which provides animations and pictures of proposed applications, guiding users in building anchor and fixture points. The system emphasizes the importance of holding undamaged parts of the body as rigidly as possible during straightening procedures, recommending frequent use of a torque bar.

The EVO system is divided into three main kits: EVO 1 (Basic Anchoring kit), EVO 2 (Extended Anchoring kit), and EVO 3 (Universal Holding & Fixturing kit).

EVO 1 - Basic Anchoring Kit

This kit serves as the foundation for anchoring, holding, and providing side support during vehicle repair. It includes:

  • Three towers
  • Multi-Purpose Clamp (MPC)
  • Track plate
  • Bushings with adapters
  • Chain holder
  • Turnbuckle for heavy operations

The EVO 1 kit is typically used with clamping methods recommended on the datasheet and allows for the creation of at least two additional anchors and supports for damaged vehicle bodies.

EVO 2 - Extended Anchoring Kit

EVO 2 is an extension to the EVO 1 kit, enhancing its capabilities for anchoring, holding, and side support. It includes:

  • Two additional towers
  • Additional track plates
  • Special tools for rear axle brackets
  • Turnbuckle extensions
  • Adjustable holders

With EVO 2, it's possible to anchor multiple points with a single tower, anchor to angled body parts, and secure rear axle and control-arm brackets.

EVO 3 - Universal Holding & Fixturing Kit

EVO 3 is a new generation universal jig kit from Car-O-Liner, designed for holding and fixing new parts during welding, riveting, and bonding in vehicle body repair. It builds upon the track plates, towers, and shafts from EVO 1 and 2.

Usage Features

The manual provides clear guidance on the recommended ways to use the equipment, as well as actions to avoid. Symbols are used to indicate:

  • Recommended use (e.g., for mounting parts)
  • Not recommended use, highlighting risks of personal injury or equipment damage
  • Acceptable but not most recommended use
  • Strong force (F)
  • Small force (f)
  • Force direction
  • Correct pull direction
  • Incorrect pull direction

The system allows for various configurations, including:

  • EVO 101 Low MPC: A basic low-profile multi-purpose clamp setup.
  • EVO 102 Horizontal MPC1: A horizontal multi-purpose clamp configuration.

Safety Features

The EVO System is designed and tested to meet strict safety requirements. Users are instructed to read the manual carefully before operation. The manual emphasizes:

  • Personal safety: Users are responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.
  • Correct equipment use: The EVO System must be used in accordance with the descriptions and instructions provided.
  • Safety precautions: Observing and following safety precautions ensures safer working conditions.

Specific warnings include:

  • IMPORTANT: The owner (user) is responsible for ensuring the equipment is installed and inspected according to instructions and regulations.
  • WARNING: Ensure the safety wire is correctly fitted and undamaged to prevent injuries from a loose pulling chain.
  • WARNING: Watch out for flying objects during alignment work and do not stand behind or near the draw area during a pull.
  • WARNING: Be extremely careful when working with hydraulic equipment to avoid falling or flying objects.
  • WARNING: Always wear safety glasses to prevent splinters.
  • IMPORTANT: Always use torque bar E175 at high and hard pulling situations.
  • NOTE: Use only genuine Car-O-Liner AB spare parts.

Maintenance Features

The manual includes detailed spare parts lists for EVO 1, EVO 2, and EVO 3, categorized by position, object, quantity, and article number. This facilitates easy identification and ordering of replacement parts. Users are advised to contact their local Car-O-Liner distributor for ordering genuine spare parts.

Technical Specifications (from spare parts list examples):

  • E100 Trackplate: Art. No. 35188
  • B626 Camlock: Art. No. 30862
