Carlon MRS electric contacting multijet meters are an economical
answer for applications needing good tolerance to contaminants, an
electrical output signal and total volume registration. With an easy to read
register display, the MRS water meter is designed with reliability and
affordability in mind. Use in conjunction with any of Carlon’s timers and
controls, you can create a customized system specific to your application
requirements. The MRS meter is available in sizes from 1/2" to 2” and
operates at flow rates up to 130 GPM and pressures of 150 psi. The
design of the MRS meters meets or exceeds AWWA specifications.

Overview

The Carlon MRS electric contacting multijet meters are designed for applications requiring good tolerance to contaminants, an electrical output signal, and total volume registration. These meters feature an easy-to-read register display and are built with reliability and affordability in mind. They can be used in conjunction with Carlon's timers and controls to create customized systems tailored to specific application requirements.

Technical Specifications:

  • Sizes: Available in sizes from 1/2" to 2".
  • Flow Rates: Operates at flow rates up to 130 GPM (Gallons Per Minute).
  • Pressures: Rated for pressures up to 150 psi.
  • Accuracy: +/- 1.5% of maximum flow when operating between minimum and maximum flow range.
  • PH Level Range: 6.5 - 8.0.
  • Temperature Range: Designed to operate within temperatures of 35 to 120 °F. Protection from freezing is required.
  • Register Options: Available with U.S. Gallons, cubic feet, or metric readings.
  • Connections: Carlon supplies connections with all MRS meter orders.

    • Note: The meter size should be selected based on continuous flow (GPM), not pipe size. For example, if continuous flow is 25 GPM, a 1" meter should be selected rather than a 3/4" meter.
  • Electrical Output: Dry contact type, reed switch meters with a maximum switching voltage of 48 V AC/DC, maximum current of 0.2 amps, and 3 watts.
  • Compliance: The design of the MRS meters meets or exceeds AWWA specifications.

Usage Features:

  • Ordering Information: To order, specify the model number followed by the desired contact pulse settings. Add 'G' for gallon reading or 'C' for cubic feet reading (contact factory for other register reading abbreviations). Example: 1 1/2" meter with gallon register and 10 gallons per contact = 150MRS-10 GPC.
  • Installation:
    1. Thoroughly flush the line after all plumbing changes to prevent contaminants from entering the meter.
    2. Install the meter horizontally with the register facing up and the inlet port facing the water supply line.
    3. If installed outdoors, the meter must be protected from the elements.
  • System Integration: Can be integrated with Carlon's timers and controls to create custom systems.

Maintenance Features:

  • Warranty: Carlon warrants its products to be free of defects in material or workmanship for a period of twelve months from the date of purchase. Contact Carlon to obtain a copy of the complete statement of warranty.
  • Helpful Hints for System Protection:
    1. Water Hammer Protection: Install a Carlon Slow-Closing Valve downstream of your water meter to eliminate possible meter damage from water hammer in your system.
    2. Particulate Matter Protection: Install a Carlon Strainer upstream of your water meter to protect the meter and any other in-line process equipment from becoming jammed by particulate matter in your system.
