Step 9 Make Electrical Connections
ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD
Failure to follow t his warning could result in personal
injury or death.
Unit cabinet must ha ve an uninterrupted, unbroken
electrical ground to minimize the possibility of
personal injury if an electrical fault should occur. This
ground may consist of an electrical wire connected to
the unit ground lug in the cont rol compartment, or
conduit approved for el ectrical ground when installed
in accordance with NEC; ANSI/NFPA 70, latest
edition (in Canada, Canadian Electrical Code CSA
[Canadi an Standards Association] C22.1), and local
electrical codes.

NOTE: Field - supplied wiring shall conform to the
limitations of minimum 63_F(33_C) rise.
Field Installed Smoke Detector
Field installed Smoke Detector by 3
rd
party
When smoke detector is required by the building codes, it
must be installed and wired by a 3
rd
party vendor. Carrier
offers the Totaline
® 4- Wire Duct Smoke detector model#
P270- 3000PL. Recommended wiring require s using the
dry cont acts to cut power to the L1 or L2 power wiring
comingintoTB1.
Typical Sequence of operation:
Smoke Detector error
S Dry contacts on smoke detector open/close
S L2 is opened and power is removed from fan coil
S VRF CDU has error due to lost fan coil
Smoke Detector returns to normal operation after
error
S Dry contacts on smoke detector open/close
S L2 has continuity to the FCU
S VRF CDU can regain communication to FCU
