indicateitcontainsair.Ifthetankisventedandthepressuresstillindicatesahighreadingandyouthinkthereisa
possibilityofthe
R134ArefrigerantbeingcontaminatedwithR12,thecontainermustbesenttoareclaimfacility.
ContainersforStoringRecycledRefrigerant
RecycledrefrigerantmustbestoredinDOTCFRTitle49orULcontainersapprovedforsuchuse.Thecontainermust
bespecicallymarkedfortherefrigeranttypeyouarestoring.Theuseofunmarkedcontainerscanleadtomixingof
refrigerantsandconsequentairconditioningsystemfailure.
Disposablerefrigerantcontainersshouldnotbeusedforthestorageorrecoveryofusedorrecycledrefrigerant.Dis-
posablecontainerarethetypeofcontainerinwhichvirginrefrigerantisoftensold.
Anycontainerofrecycledrefrigerantthathasbeenstoredortransferredmustbecheckedpriortoitsuseinaccordance
withthetemperature/pressurecheckdescribedpreviouslyin"CheckingRefrigerantforExcessAir."
Newstoragetanksmustbeevacuatedtoatleast635mm(25in)ofmercurypriortouse.Otherwise,excessairmay
beintroducedtotherefrigerant.
DisposalofEmptyorNear-EmptyDisposableContainers
Improperscrappingofadisposablecontainercanreleasesomerefrigerantintotheatmosphere.Thismustbe
avoidedbyremovinganyoftheremainingcontentswitharecoveryorrecyclingmachineasfollows:
1.Attachtheservicehoseofyourrecoveryorrecyclingmachinetothecontainer.
2.Openthecontainervalveandtherecovery/recyclingequipmentshutoffvalveandevacuatethecontainerjustas
youwouldamobileairconditioningsystem.
3.Whenthemaximumstablevacuumhasbeenachieved,closethecontainervalveandtheservicehosesvalve,
allowingthevacuumtobeinthecontainer.
4.Markthecontainer"empty"anddisposeofitproperly.
