Do you have a question about the cecotec BONGO D20 XL CONNECTED and is the answer not in the manual?
This document is a user manual for the Bongo D20 XL Connected electric scooter, a personal mobility vehicle designed for transporting a single person in public or private spaces.
The Bongo D20 XL Connected electric scooter is primarily an entertainment device, though it is approved for use on public roads in some jurisdictions. It is designed for personal mobility, allowing a single user to travel in various environments. The scooter features an electric motor for propulsion and a braking system for control. It includes a display that shows essential information such as speed, battery level, and selected driving mode. The scooter also has a folding mechanism for easy storage and transport.
Assembly and Unfolding: The scooter can be easily unfolded by detaching the retaining bracket, pulling the stem upwards, and locking the folding lever. For folding, the blue plate is pressed to release the lever, which is then moved downwards along with the stem, aligning the locking hook with the retaining bracket. The handlebar is assembled by connecting its male cable to the stem's female cable, ensuring correct alignment, then inserting and screwing the handlebar into the stem. Users are cautioned not to damage the cable during this process. All screws should be checked and tightened before initial use.
Charging: The scooter is fully charged when the LED light on the charger turns green from red. The charging port is located on the bottom left-side, protected by a rubber cap. The battery should be charged at an ambient temperature between 0 ºC and 40 ºC for efficient operation. It is recommended to charge the battery after every use and before it is completely depleted, at least once a month if stored for long periods.
Operation and Driving Modes: To switch on, the power button is held for 2 seconds. Users step on the deck with one foot, propel themselves forward with the other, then place both feet on the deck. The electric motor engages when the speed reaches 3 km/h or more, by pressing the accelerator. The scooter features three driving modes, selectable by short-pressing the power button:
Display and Controls: The display shows light status, driving mode, speed, configuration mode, lock system status, temperature, trip/ODO distance, speed units, warnings, and battery level. A function button allows short presses to turn lights on/off and a 3-second long press to enter the settings menu. The scooter can be locked/unlocked by 5 short presses of the on/off button, indicated by a padlock symbol on the display.
Settings Menu: The settings menu allows users to switch between P0 and P1 modes using the power button. P0 allows selection of speed units (km/h or mph), while P1 toggles between total trip distance (ODO) and current trip distance (TRIP).
Tire Use: Correct tire pressure (35 PSI / 2.5 bars / 250 kPa) must be maintained for optimal performance and battery life. Periodic checks are recommended, and heat-sealing gels are suggested to prevent punctures.
Pairing: A QR code is provided in the manual to access the app download and a detailed manual for product pairing.
Cleaning: Before cleaning or maintenance, the scooter must be disconnected from the power supply and switched off. A soft cloth should be used for external cleaning. Alcohol, petrol, paraffin, corrosive, or abrasive products should never be used. The scooter should not be immersed in water or cleaned with pressurized water, as this can damage electronic components.
Brake System: The brake disc must be in perfect condition and aligned with the caliper. An Allen key is provided for adjustment. Brake pads are consumable and must be replaced when worn out.
Storage: For long-term storage, the scooter should be fully charged (at least once a month) and stored at an ambient temperature between 0 °C and 35 °C, but ideally between -10 °C and 35 °C. It should be kept in a dry, safe indoor location and covered to protect it from dust.
Battery Removal: For repair or recycling, the battery can be removed by unscrewing the fasteners on the underside, opposite the footrest.
Error Codes: The scooter's display shows error codes (E0-E9) indicating various malfunctions (e.g., overheating, motor failure, brake failure, low voltage). If an error code appears, users should not attempt self-repair but contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service. Repairs must be performed by authorized technicians using original spare parts.
Safety: Users must wear protective equipment (helmet, elbow/knee pads) and appropriate footwear. Practicing in a safe area before public use is recommended. The scooter should not be used in the rain, by more than one person, or by children under 16 (local regulations should be checked for those over 16). Users should avoid jumping over obstacles, riding at high speeds over uneven surfaces, or making abrupt turns. The braking distance is longer on wet surfaces. The braking system should not be modified. Regular visual inspections of wear-prone components (chassis, fork, wheels, brakes) are crucial to detect cracks or damage.
