Note: Devices with visible battery contact issues (bent, water or humidity corrosion, battery corrosion,
etc.) will result in degraded performance and may experience premature entry into the "Less than 90-
Days" or "Less than 30-Days" status in Pulse, even if an authorized battery is used.
Connect Pulse™ Automatic Battery Replacement Indication
When a device is in the "Less than 30-Days" status and the battery is replaced with a new, authorized
battery, Pulse will aggregate battery health data over time and automatically process battery
replacement indications and move the device to the "Good" bin. The following is the most common
battery replacement workflow. The workflow assumes the device remains online and in good network
coverage for at least 10 days during processing.
• After a new, authorized battery has been added, within 48 hours the device should move to the
"Good" status with a blue battery icon. The blue battery icon denotes an initial indication of a
new battery and further processing will occur to complete the battery replacement routine. Note
that infrastructure devices (i.e. monitors, exciters, stars) currently does not utilize the blue
battery icon state.
• Additional processing will occur over the next week. When Pulse has made a final determination
that a new, authorized battery was added, processing will complete, resulting in the icon
changing to green and the "Battery Replaced On" field will update to the date when Pulse first
detected the new battery. This process generally takes up to 5 days after a new battery was
added but can take up to 10 days depending on the health of the battery or if the device is
removed from network coverage for a short period of time.
• If during the additional processing, the criteria for a new, authorized battery was not met, the
device will move back to the "Less than 30-Days" status to denote to users that there was an
issue with the battery and a new battery should be added.
If a device is not in consistent network coverage during processing, the device may:
• Remain in the "Less than 30-Days" status until it regains proper network coverage
• Receive the initial battery replacement indication by moving into the "Good" status with a blue
battery icon, but then move back to the "Less than 30-Days" status around the 11th day after
adding the new battery.
Note: Devices with visible battery contact issues (bent, water or humidity corrosion, battery corrosion,
etc.) will result in degraded performance and may not properly update in Pulse even if an authorized
battery is used.
