Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive manual for the ARIANEXT CHAFFOTEAUX system, a device designed for domestic hot water production and integrated heating/cooling functionalities. The manual provides detailed instructions for installation, usage, and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the system.

The ARIANEXT system is a versatile unit that connects to a heating system and a domestic hot water distribution network, compatible with its performance and power levels. It is available in different models, including ARIANEXT MGP and ARIANEXT FSP, with heating/cooling capacities of 4, 6, 8, 12, and 15 kW.

Function Description:

The ARIANEXT system's core function is to provide domestic hot water and manage ambient temperature through heating or cooling. It features an "EXPERT CONTROL" system interface that allows for simple and effective thermoregulation and control. This interface also provides initial troubleshooting assistance by displaying anomaly codes and suggesting interventions or recommending contact with a Technical Service Centre.

Important Technical Specifications:

The system operates under specific pressure conditions, with the anti-freeze function requiring system pressure between 0.6 and 3 bar. The device is designed to comply with CE directives, specifically 2004/108/EC for electromagnetic compatibility and 2006/95/EC for electrical safety (LVD). The manual emphasizes that frequent refilling (once a month or more) indicates a potential problem with the installation, such as leaks or expansion vessel issues, which should be addressed by a qualified installer to prevent corrosion damage.

Usage Features:

The "EXPERT CONTROL" interface is highly customizable, allowing users to monitor time, date, operating mode, set/detected temperatures, hourly programming, active energy sources, and CO2 emission savings.

  • Initial Start-up: Upon first connection, users are guided through basic settings, including language, date, and time. Parameters can be selected and confirmed using the central knob and OK button. Some advanced parameters are protected by a safety code to prevent unauthorized changes.
  • Operating Modes: The system offers various operating modes:
    • Summer: Domestic hot water production, heating excluded.
    • Winter: Domestic hot water production and heating.
    • Heating Only: Heating, cylinder heating excluded (if present).
    • Cooling: Domestic hot water production, cooling on.
    • OFF: System off, with active anti-freeze function to protect pipes from freezing.
  • Temperature Regulation: Room temperature can be adjusted in both manual and programmed modes. In programmed mode, temporary adjustments to the ambient temperature can be made, with the system reverting to the pre-set temperature after a specified time.
  • Heating/Cooling Schedule Programming: Users can set hourly schedules for heating or cooling, offering "Free Time Programming," "Wizard Time Programming," and "Preset Programs" options. This allows for customized comfort periods with adjustable comfort and reduced temperatures.
  • Domestic Hot Water Settings: The system allows for setting the desired domestic hot water temperature. A "Comfort" function reduces standby time for hot water requests, with options for "Disabled," "Time Based," "Always Active," and "HC/HP" (excluding electric heating during high energy rate periods, especially in heat pump systems). A "BOOST" function enables faster heating to the set temperature.
  • Additional Functions:
    • Holiday Function: Deactivates heating during holiday periods, resuming operation on a pre-set return date.
    • SRA Function (Thermoregulation): Automatically adjusts the system's operating regime based on installation type and environmental conditions to maintain constant indoor temperature while minimizing energy consumption. Users can enable or disable this function.
    • Special Functions: Includes a "Quiet Mode Activation" to limit heat pump power and reduce noise, with settable start and end times. A "PV Delta T DHW setpoint temp." function increases the domestic water setpoint when extra photovoltaic energy is available.
    • System Performance: Allows users to view the energy performance of the installed system, including sanitary storage temperature.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance of the ARIANEXT system is mandatory and indispensable to ensure correct functioning, safety, and longevity. This maintenance should be performed by a qualified technician at least once a year, as indicated by Ministerial Circular 09.08.78.

  • Troubleshooting: In case of system shutdown, an error code is displayed on the interface, indicating the type and cause of the anomaly. Users should follow the on-screen instructions for restoration or contact an authorized Technical Service Centre if the error persists. The manual includes a detailed table of error codes and their descriptions.
  • Anti-freeze Function: The system is equipped with an anti-freeze function that monitors the outlet water temperature of the internal unit. If the temperature drops below 8 °C for more than two consecutive minutes, the system's devices are activated. This function requires system pressure between 0.6 and 3 bar, continuous electrical supply, and no active errors at the time of activation.
  • General Maintenance: The manual advises against unauthorized opening or removal of the appliance, cutting or modifying electrical connections, placing objects on the unit, or climbing on it. It also specifies cleaning procedures, recommending the use of soapy water and avoiding aggressive detergents, insecticides, or solvents. For prolonged disuse, the system should be disconnected from power, the cold water supply shut off, and the entire circuit emptied to prevent freezing. Decommissioning should be performed by a qualified technician.
