Overview

This document is the owner's manual for the Chamberlain Waxmaster Random Orbital Waxer and Polisher, available in two models: the 900W Type 2 and the Heavy Duty 1100W Type 2. The manual provides essential safety instructions, operational guidelines, maintenance tips, and parts lists for both models, along with information on related car care products.

Function Description:

The Waxmaster is a random orbital waxer and polisher designed for automotive care. Its primary function is to apply wax and polishing solutions to a car's surface and then buff it to a high-gloss, mirror-like shine. The random orbital action helps to prevent swirl marks and ensures even application and polishing. The device is intended for use with non-abrasive compounds only.

Important Technical Specifications:

Model 900W Type 2:

  • Motor RPM: 3100 @ 120V (Bench Speed)
  • Oscillations per minute: 2400 (No Load)
  • AMPS: .65 (Working Load)
  • Weight: 5 lb. 5 oz.
  • Warranty: One year from the date of purchase against defective parts and workmanship. A 90-day warranty applies if used for commercial or rental purposes. Foam sponge rubber pads and bonnets are considered replacement items and are not included in the warranty.

Heavy Duty Model 1100W Type 2:

  • Motor RPM: 3300 @ 120V (Bench Speed)
  • Oscillations per minute: 2500 (No Load)
  • AMPS: .85 (Working Load)
  • Weight: 6 lb. 0 oz.
  • Warranty: Three years from the date of purchase against defective parts and workmanship. A 90-day warranty applies if used for commercial or rental purposes. Foam sponge rubber pads and bonnets are considered replacement items and are not included in the warranty.

Both models feature double-insulated construction for enhanced safety, eliminating the need for three-wire grounding. They are equipped with a two-prong plug.

Usage Features:

The Waxmaster is designed for ease of use and effective car care.

  • Preparation: Before use, the car surface must be clean and dry. The work area should also be dry.
  • Bonnet Placement: A clean bonnet is placed on the pad, ensuring the elastic is securely and evenly tucked around the underside.
  • Wax Application: A heaping teaspoonful of wax is spread evenly over the entire surface of the bonnet.
  • Polishing Solution Application: Approximately three swirls of professional polishing solution are applied over the wax on the bonnet. It is crucial not to apply the solution directly to the car. The first application covers about one-third of the car. Subsequent applications require half the quantity of wax and polishing solution, as the bonnet will absorb less when reloaded.
  • Operation: The polisher should always be started and stopped on or against the car surface to prevent the bonnet from being thrown off the pad.
  • Technique: The extension cord should be placed over the shoulder. Flat surfaces (hood, trunk, roof) are addressed first, using broad, sweeping strokes in a criss-cross pattern. It is emphasized not to press down on the polisher; the machine's action, not pressure, performs the work.
  • Side Surfaces: After flat surfaces, the sides of the car are waxed and polished. Road tar, grease spots, and bug stains should be removed with a general cleaner before polishing. For doors and fenders, a criss-cross motion is not strictly necessary.
  • Hand Polishing: After removing the bonnet, hard-to-reach areas (under bumpers, around door handles) are hand-polished.
  • Buffing: A clean bonnet is then placed on the polisher, and the car surfaces are buffed in the same order as the wax and polishing solutions were applied. Long, sweeping strokes in a criss-cross pattern are used, again without pressing hard, allowing the polisher to do the work.
  • Compounds: Only non-abrasive compounds should be used. The manual explicitly warns against using abrasive compounds.
  • Car Care Tips:
    • Wash and polish the car 3 to 4 times per year for paint protection.
    • Wash the car every 2 weeks, preferably with Waxmaster Professional Car Wash Solution, avoiding household detergents.
    • Use a clean sponge and soft terry cloth towel for washing and drying, starting from the top.
    • Remove bugs, bird droppings, tree sap, and tar daily.
    • Ensure the car surface is cool before washing.
    • Avoid parking near sprinklers to prevent water spots.
    • Spray glass cleaner onto a towel, not directly on painted surfaces.

Maintenance Features:

Proper care and maintenance extend the life of the polisher and its accessories.

  • Bonnets: Bonnets can be machine-washed in cold water with a small amount of detergent on a short cycle and machine-dried at medium heat. However, hand washing and air drying are recommended for longer life.
  • Pad Storage: To prolong pad life and shape, the polisher should always be stored with the pad face up.
  • Bonnet Removal: Remove the bonnet from the pad when the polisher is not in use to allow the pad to dry out and retain its original shape.
  • Product Usage: The included cleaning and waxing products are sufficient for a large car. Badly oxidized paint may require multiple applications. Replacement supplies in larger containers are available.
  • Over-application: A common error is applying too much wax and professional polishing solution. This saturates the pad, reducing its lifespan and making polishing more difficult and time-consuming. Over-application can also cause the bonnet to continually come off the pad and make wax difficult to buff.
  • Cleaning the Polisher: Use only mild soap and a damp sponge to clean the polisher. Do not immerse any part in liquid.
  • Repairs: If the polisher needs repair, only identical replacement parts, as illustrated and listed in the manual, should be used.
  • Cord Care: Do not abuse the cord. Never carry the tool by its cord or yank it to disconnect. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges. Inspect the cord periodically and call the hotline for repair information if damaged.
  • Storage: When not in use, the tool should be locked up (or kept high and dry) and out of reach of children.
  • Safety: Always wear eye protection and proper clothing (not loose or bulky). Avoid loose jewelry and overreaching. Maintain proper footing and balance.
  • Tool Operation: Do not put fingers, objects, or tools between the guard and pad holder while the machine is running. Do not operate the tool if the guard is damaged or if the switch does not turn the tool on and off.

The manual also lists available Waxmaster Professional Products:

  • Waxmaster Professional Wax (Model W70): Contains more than twice the wax of conventional pre-softened waxes. Features natural carnauba wax and non-abrasive cleaners to protect and beautify, providing a hard, mirror-like shine and a tough, protective coating.
  • Waxmaster Professional Polishing Solution (Model W60): Safe for all finishes, including clear coat. Cleans road film, dirt, grime, and oxidation, preparing the surface for wax. Contains Carnauba wax for durability and detergent resistance.
  • Waxmaster Professional Car Wash Solution (Model W50): A gentle formula that won't damage car finishes or remove wax. Contains a coconut derivative for lubrication, minimizing scratching. Biodegradable and phosphate-free.
  • Waxmaster Terry Cloth Bonnets: Available in 9" (Model W80 for 900W) and 11" (Model W85 for 1100W) sizes. Custom-tailored, washable, and reusable.
