Overview

The Chefman Multifunctional Air Fryer+ is a versatile kitchen appliance designed to air fry, bake, dehydrate, and roast foods, including rotisserie-style cooking, with little to no oil for crisp, healthy results. This user guide provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, feature utilization, and maintenance, ensuring a prolonged and enjoyable cooking experience.

Function Description

The Multifunctional Air Fryer+ offers a range of cooking functions accessible via its intuitive capacitive touch control panel. The primary functions include:

  • Air Fry: This function allows for cooking foods with hot air, achieving a crispy texture similar to deep frying but with significantly less oil. It's ideal for items like french fries, chicken, fish, and vegetables.
  • Bake: The appliance can also function as a compact oven for baking various items such as cakes, chicken, fish, and vegetables.
  • Dehydrate: For preserving foods, the dehydrate function removes moisture at low temperatures, suitable for fruits, vegetables, and meats.
  • Rotisserie: A key feature is its rotisserie capability, perfect for roasting whole chickens or boneless meat pieces evenly, ensuring crisp perfection.

The control panel features dedicated buttons for each cooking function (BAKE, AIR FRY, DEHYDRATE), which illuminate blue when selected. Below these, food icons (CAKE, FRIES, CHICKEN, FISH, MEAT, VEGETABLES, FRUIT) serve as cooking presets, offering suggested times and temperatures for popular dishes. These presets can be adjusted using the TEMP/TIME button and the plus (+) and minus (-) signs. The display automatically alternates between temperature and cook time.

Additional controls include:

  • ROTATE: This button activates the rotisserie spit, turning blue when engaged. It can be toggled on or off during Air Fry or Bake functions.
  • LIGHT: Turns on the interior light, allowing users to monitor cooking progress through the viewing window without opening the door.
  • STOP/CANCEL: Immediately halts the cooking process.
  • TEMP/TIME: Toggles between temperature and cook time settings for manual adjustments.
  • START: Initiates the cooking cycle.

The air fryer operates without requiring preheating, which contributes to faster cooking times compared to traditional ovens. Temperature settings for Bake and Air Fry range from 200°F to 400°F, with time ranges from 1 minute to 2 hours for Bake and 1 minute to 1 hour for Air Fry. For dehydrating, the temperature range is 95°F to 200°F, and the time range is 30 minutes to 24 hours. Users can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius by pressing and holding the TEMP button until the desired unit illuminates. Time adjustments occur in 1-minute increments, and temperature changes in 5-degree increments, with the option to press and hold the minus or plus sign for faster adjustments.

Usage Features

The Chefman Multifunctional Air Fryer+ is designed for user convenience and safety. Before first use, it's essential to remove all packaging materials and stickers (except the rating label), verify all parts and accessories are present, and wipe down the interior and exterior with a damp cloth. The accessories, including wire cooking racks, spit forks, and the drip tray, should be washed with warm, soapy water and thoroughly dried. A slight odor may be present during the first use, which is normal and will dissipate.

To use the air fryer:

  1. Place the unit on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from heat and water sources.
  2. Position the removable drip tray/baking pan on the floor of the unit for easy cleaning, especially if not used for baking.
  3. Place seasoned food on the wire cooking rack(s), baking pan, or rotisserie spit.
  4. Insert the chosen accessory into the oven and close the door.
  5. Select the desired cooking function (BAKE, AIR FRY, or DEHYDRATE). The unit defaults to Air Fry upon startup.
  6. Choose a cooking preset or manually adjust time and temperature. Always check food for doneness according to safety guidelines.
  7. Press START. The button will turn red, and the fan will activate.
  8. During cooking, the LIGHT button allows for monitoring through the viewing window. Opening the door pauses all functions, and the interior light comes on. Cooking resumes from the saved point once the door is closed. STOP/CANCEL can be pressed at any time.

When using the rotisserie spit (maximum 4 lbs):

  • Ensure giblets are removed from whole chickens and truss them tightly.
  • Run the spit lengthwise through the food, securing it with the spit forks and screws, leaving at least 1 inch of free space on both ends of the rod. Ensure the food is secure and won't slide. Spit forks are sharp, so handle with care.
  • Guide the left shaft of the spit into the rotisserie gear on the left interior wall, then lay the right shaft on the rotisserie holder on the right interior wall. Confirm the food can rotate freely.
  • Close the door and proceed with cooking using the Bake or Air Fry function. Press the ROTATE button to activate the spit's rotation.

Removing hot food and accessories requires caution:

  • Use potholders or oven mitts for hot pans, racks, or trays.
  • For the rotisserie spit, use the fetch tool in one hand and a potholder or oven mitt in the other. Guide the fetch tool's prongs below the spit's shafts, lift the right side, then the left, and carefully remove the hot spit and food. Transfer to a heat-resistant surface.
  • Always use tongs to handle hot foods.

The air fryer cooks with hot air only; never heat cooking vessels filled with oil or other liquids, as this poses a fire hazard.

Air Fryer Cooking Tips

  • Most prepared foods do not require tossing in oil before air frying, as they often contain ingredients that promote browning.
  • For scratch-made foods like french fries, a little oil (e.g., ½ teaspoon per batch) can enhance browning and crispiness.
  • Ensure fresh potatoes for french fries are completely dry before air frying to achieve crispiness.
  • When air frying battered foods, use thick, pasty batters, as thin batters may run.
  • When using multiple wire racks, switch their positions halfway through the cooking cycle for even results. For dehydrating, periodically switch rack positions from top to bottom.
  • The air fryer is excellent for reheating food; set it to 300°F for up to 10 minutes.
  • Always follow food safety guidelines for doneness and do not rely solely on recipe timing due to variations in food sizes.

Troubleshooting FAQs

  • White smoke: This usually indicates too much fat in the air fryer. Avoid cooking very fatty foods like sausages and ensure the unit and accessories are clean.
  • Black smoke: This is a serious problem. Immediately unplug the unit and contact Chefman Customer Support. Do not use the air fryer until the issue is resolved.
  • Unevenly cooked food: Likely due to overcrowding or not switching rack positions. Distribute food evenly and flip items midway through cooking. If using multiple racks, switch their positions at least once.
  • Food not crisp: Coating foods lightly with oil (about ½ teaspoon per batch) can help achieve crisp results.
  • Error code (E1 or E2): Indicates a unit problem, such as a short circuit. The unit will not function. Contact Chefman Customer Support for a replacement.

Maintenance Features

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of the Chefman Multifunctional Air Fryer+.

  1. Always unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Gently wipe down the exterior and interior with a damp cloth or paper towel. Never immerse the air fryer or its plug in water or any other liquid, as the housing is NOT dishwasher safe.
  3. Clean the glass door with dish soap and warm water using a sponge, soft cloth, or nylon pad, then dry thoroughly. Avoid spray glass cleaners. The door can be removed for easier cleaning by opening it slightly and lifting it upwards from the hinges. To replace, align the hinges and push it down until it locks.
  4. Wash all accessories (wire racks, spit forks, drip tray) with a sponge and warm, soapy water. Racks can be cleaned with a bristled brush, but avoid abrasive cleaning agents or scouring pads. All accessories are top-rack dishwasher safe.
  5. After cleaning, dry the unit and accessories thoroughly and store them in a cool, dry place.
  6. Never wrap the power cord tightly around the appliance during use or storage, as this can cause the wire to fray and break.

The Chefman Multifunctional Air Fryer+ is designed for household use only and comes with a limited 1-year warranty covering manufacturer defects under normal household use. Registration of the product is encouraged to facilitate warranty processes and stay informed about product updates.
