GENERAL INFORMATION
The Shift:R for Pinion was developed for use with the Pinion CSeries gearbox.
The Shift:R for Pinion replaces the original Pinion shift box and shift lever.
The Shift:R Tour shift levers can be mounted on at handlebars with an outer
diameter of 22.2 mm, while the Shift:R Road brake levers can be mounted on
standard road (drop) handlebars.
The Shift:R Box for Pinion has two counterrotating ratchet mechanisms.
Depending on the shifting direction, a pawl engages in a toothed ring, which
triggers the shifting process in the gearbox via the planetary gear. The two
ratchets work in mutual dependence and interplay, if the shifting operation
in one direction is ongoing, the other direction has to be in ease of operation.
In idle position, none of the ratchets are engaged with the tooth ring, due to
the mechanics of the return springs and demeshing plates. The switching
operation will be triggered through a cable seat, which engages its correspond-
ing ratchet with the toothed ring. Any standard shifter cables with a maximum
stop diameter of 4.5 mm can be used.
