Overview

This document is an owner's manual for the Clivet Schiara and Schiara-SM split-type room air conditioners. It provides essential information for installation, operation, and maintenance of the unit.

Function Description

The Clivet Schiara and Schiara-SM are split-type room air conditioners designed for cooling, heating, and dehumidification (DRY mode). The Schiara series is intended for MONOsplit systems, while the Schiara-SM series is for MULTIsplit systems. These units offer various operational modes to ensure optimal comfort and energy efficiency. They feature an indoor unit with a display window and a louver for directing airflow, and an outdoor unit. The air conditioner can be controlled via a remote control (not included in this literature package, but referenced for detailed functionality) or manually through a button on the indoor unit in emergency situations.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual outlines optimal performance temperature ranges for COOL, HEAT, and DRY modes, which are crucial for the unit's efficient operation.

  • Room Temperature Ranges:
    • COOL mode: 17°C-32°C (63°F - 90°F) for both Inverter Split Type and Fixed-speed Type.
    • HEAT mode: 0°C-30°C (32°F - 86°F) for Inverter Split Type, and 0°-30°C (32°-86°F) for Fixed-speed Type.
    • DRY mode: 10°C-32°C (50°F - 90°F) for Inverter Split Type, and 13°-32°C (50°-90°F) for Fixed-speed Type.
  • Outdoor Temperature Ranges:
    • COOL mode: 0°C-50°C (32°F - 122°F) for Inverter Split Type, and 18°-43°C (64°-109°F) for Fixed-speed Type. Some Inverter models with low-temp cooling systems can operate down to -15°C (5°F).
    • HEAT mode: -15°C-30°C (5°F - 86°F) for Inverter Split Type, and -7°-24°C (19°-75°F) for Fixed-speed Type.
    • DRY mode: 0°C-50°C (32°F - 122°F) for Inverter Split Type, and 18°-43°C (64°-109°F) for Fixed-speed Type.
  • Refrigerant: The unit uses R32/R290 refrigerant, which is flammable. Servicing must be performed by competent personnel.
  • Power Supply: The wiring diagrams indicate a 230/1/50 power supply for models ranging from 27M to 70M.
  • Error Codes: The manual provides a comprehensive list of error codes (EO to FA) displayed on the indoor unit, indicating various malfunctions such as communication errors, sensor errors, fan speed malfunctions, refrigerant leaks, and protection activations. These codes help in diagnosing issues.

Usage Features

  • Airflow Control: The vertical angle of airflow can be adjusted using the SWING/DIRECT button on the remote control, allowing for 6° increments or continuous swing. The horizontal angle is set manually by gripping the deflector rod.
  • Display Window: The indoor unit features a display window that shows various codes indicating the unit's status, such as TIMER ON/OFF, FRESH, SWING, TURBO, SILENCE, anti-cold air, defrosting, self-cleaning, freeze protection, wireless control, and set/room temperature.
  • Sleep Operation: This function reduces energy consumption during sleep by gradually adjusting the temperature (increasing by 1°C/2°F in COOL mode and decreasing by 1°C/2°F in HEAT mode over two hours) and maintaining it for 5 hours before automatically turning off. This feature is not available in FAN or DRY mode.
  • Auto-Restart: In case of power loss, the unit automatically restarts with its previous settings once power is restored.
  • Anti-mildew (some units): After turning off from COOL, AUTO (COOL), or DRY modes, the unit continues to operate at very low power to dry condensed water and prevent mildew.
  • Mute Operation (some units): The LED button on the remote control can turn off the indoor screen display and the air conditioner buzzer for a quieter environment.
  • Louver Angle Memory (some units): The louver automatically resumes its former angle when the unit is turned on.
  • Refrigerant Leakage Detection (some units): The indoor unit displays "EC" when it detects refrigerant leakage.
  • Wireless Control (some units): Allows control of the air conditioner using a mobile phone via a wireless connection. Access to the USB device for this feature requires professional staff.

Maintenance Features

  • Air Filter Cleaning: Regular cleaning of the air filter (every two weeks) is recommended to maintain cooling efficiency and health. The filter is located under the top air inlet grill and can be removed, cleaned with warm, soapy water, rinsed, and dried in a cool, dry place. Air freshening filters, if present, should also be cleaned.
  • Air Filter Reminders (Optional):
    • Cleaning Reminder: After 240 hours of use, "CL" flashes on the display. It can be reset by pressing the LED button 4 times or the MANUAL CONTROL button 3 times.
    • Replacement Reminder: After 2,880 hours of use, "nF" flashes on the display, indicating the need for filter replacement. It can be reset similarly to the cleaning reminder.
  • Long Periods of Non-Use Maintenance: If the unit will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to clean all filters, run the FAN function until the unit dries out, turn off the unit, disconnect power, and remove batteries from the remote control.
  • Pre-Season Inspection: Before periods of frequent use, it is advised to check for damaged wires, leaks, clean all filters, and replace batteries. Ensure air inlets and outlets are not blocked.
  • Professional Servicing: Any maintenance or cleaning of the outdoor unit, as well as any unit repairs, should be performed by an authorized dealer or licensed service provider. This is especially critical for units using flammable refrigerants (R32/R290).
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a troubleshooting section to help users identify and resolve common issues that are not malfunctions, such as white mist emission, various noises, or erratic operation. It advises contacting a service center if problems persist after basic checks.
