User Manual I Primelase I 47
Intended use
The primelase® excellence device is intended to be used
for hair reduction treatments. The permanent reduction
of hair using primelase® excellence is also indicated for
the medical treatment of pseudofolliculitis and hirsutism.
Primelase® excellence is also designed to be used for
the treatment of vascular lesions, pigmentary lesions,
vulgaris or follicular acne and rejuvenetion treatments.
Operating principle
The primelase® excellence is a diode laser device, the
basic principle of which is selective photothermolysis,
which consist in the specic destruction of a follicle due
to an increase of the temperature induced by a high
powered beam of light which is selectively absorbed
by the melanin.
The primelase® excellence device emits pulsed laser
radiation (an infrared beam of light at different wave-
lengths) through the laser aperture located in the tip of
the applicator. This laser radiation is used to progres-
sively and permanently reduce hair.
The device applicator contains the laser energy emitting
diode. The power delivered and the working frequency
are controlled from the central unit of the device. The ap-
plicator emits energy through a sapphire window, which
is put in contact with the skin throughout the treatment
for the purpose of damaging the hair follicle. The emis-
sion of energy in the form of continuous pulses begins
when the button on the applicator is pressed.
Each pulse that emits laser energy is accompanied by a
sound to signal the presence of laser emission activity.
To avoid any dangerous situations, read all the de-
vice’s safety requirements carefully before performing
laser energy emission.
The sapphire tip of the applicator is cooled to a con-
stant temperature to chill the skin, this provides a par-
tial anaesthetic of the tissue and reduces the risk of
injury to the epidermis during treatment.
In accordance with the clinical evaluation of laser med-
ical treatments, laser hair removal with the primelase®
excellence device is designed to permanently reduce
hair on all skin phototypes, Fitzpatrick I to VI, for the
treatment of pseudofolliculitis barbae and hirsutism.
