Overview

This document is a user manual for Coldline Commercial Undercounter Air Cooled Ice Makers, specifically models ICE80, ICE120, ICE180, and ICE280. It provides comprehensive information regarding the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of these devices.

Function Description:

The Coldline Commercial Undercounter Air Cooled Ice Maker is a fully automatic machine designed to produce ice cubes. Once properly installed and connected to a potable water source and power supply, it will automatically begin the ice-making process. The machine is equipped with a storage bin, and when the ice cubes fill the bin to a certain height, the machine will automatically stop production. It is primarily intended for commercial use in environments such as kitchen areas of stores, offices, workplaces, farms, hotels, car hotels, restaurants, and catering services. It is not designed for home use.

Important Technical Specifications:

The ice maker operates within specific environmental and utility parameters to ensure optimal performance and safety.

  • Location: Indoor use only, not exceeding 2,000 meters above sea level.
  • Ambient Temperature: 5-40°C.
  • Power Supply: Rated voltage indicated on the machine nameplate ±6%. A circuit breaker or switch with leakage protection and reliable grounding is required. The socket must be reliably grounded.
  • Water Source: Potable water only. Groundwater or other non-drinking water sources are prohibited.
  • Water Pressure: 0.13MPa to 0.55MPa.
  • Water Temperature: 5-35°C.
  • Refrigerant: Flammable refrigerant R290 is used.
  • Foaming Agent: Flammable foaming agent "Cyclopentane" is used.
  • Ventilation: Sufficient ventilation space (20-30 cm) around the ice machine is crucial, especially at the front and rear, as the compressor and condenser are located in the compressor chamber below the front of the ice bin.
  • Drainage: Proper floor drainage must be provided near the installation location. The drain pipe should have a level difference of more than 3cm per meter and must not be blocked. Any joint in the drain pipe must not be higher than the machine drainage port or any previous joint.
  • Ice Thickness Adjustment: The ice cube thickness can be adjusted by pressing the "+" or "-" buttons on the control panel. Each press extends or shortens the ice-making time by 1.5 minutes.

Usage Features:

  • Automatic Operation: The machine is fully automatic, starting ice production once connected to water and power. It stops automatically when the ice bin is full.
  • Self-Check Function: Upon initial power-on, the ice maker performs a self-check and pumps out any remaining water.
  • Preparation Cycle: After energizing, the inlet valve opens, allowing water to flow in until a set level is reached, followed by a defrosting cycle.
  • Ice Making Cycle: After a 30-second pre-cooling period, the water pump starts, circulating water over the evaporator to form ice cubes.
  • Ice Harvest Cycle: Once ice making is complete, the water pump turns off, the defrosting valve activates, and hot gas enters the evaporator for 1-2 minutes, causing the ice cubes to slide into the storage bin.
  • Shutdown: The machine can be manually stopped by pressing the "on/off" button on the control panel.
  • Bin Full Stop: If the storage bin is full and the ice sliding board is blocked, the ice maker will stop within 30 seconds.
  • Repeat Ice-Making: Once ice is removed from the sliding board, the machine will resume ice making within seconds.
  • Control Panel: Features LED displays for various processes (INIT, PREP, MAKE, HARV, INLET, FAULT) and indicator lamps. It includes buttons for "THICKNESS" adjustment (+/-), "CLEAN," and "ON/OFF."
  • Voice Function: Some models include a voice function that provides prompts for related operations.
  • Long-Term Storage: If not in use for a long time, it should be energized and run for 2 to 4 hours every 2 months.
  • Safety Protections:
    • Shuts down if ice cube falling is not detected in three cycles.
    • Shuts down if ambient temperature is too high.
    • Shuts down if water supply abnormity is detected (for water-cooled models).
    • Displays fault codes (E01, E03, E04, E05, E06, E07, E08) for various issues like sliding board failure, harvest over time, high temperature, water shortage, high pressure, and sensor faults.

Maintenance Features:

  • Professional Maintenance: All maintenance must be performed by qualified professional personnel. Power and water sources must be disconnected before any maintenance or manual cleaning.
  • Exterior Cleaning: The environment around the ice machine should be kept clean, and vents should not be blocked. The outer enclosure can be cleaned with a mild detergent and wiped dry, or with commercial stainless steel cleaners and polishes. Note that stainless steel may rust without proper maintenance.
  • Inlet Water Filter: The filter element should be inspected regularly and replaced every 1 to 3 months. The filter flow direction must be correctly installed.
  • Interior Cleaning: The inside of the ice storage bin can be washed directly with water pipes. Care should be taken not to flush parts above the water pump or evaporator directly due to water pressure.
  • Condenser Cleaning: For air-cooled models, the condenser should be cleaned every three weeks using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to avoid damaging the fins. The condenser filter should be cleaned every 2 weeks. Caution is advised due to sharp fin edges.
  • Water Pipe Cleaning: The water pipe assembly should be cleaned regularly to ensure food safety. Only the water pipe assembly supplied with the ice maker should be used.
  • Clean Function: The machine has an automatic cleaning process. To initiate, hold the "CLEAN" button for 3 seconds. Cleaning agents and disinfectants must be added manually to the water trough during the process. The process includes auto-cleaning and auto-sterilizing cycles, each lasting about 15 minutes, followed by a rinsing process of about 25 minutes. After cleaning, the first 5 batches of ice should be discarded to ensure no cleaner residue remains.
  • Wintering: For long-term storage or winterization, turn off water and power, then drain residual water from the trough, inlet pipe, and drain pipe.
  • Warranty: The manual specifies that maintenance of the ice machine is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. The warranty does not cover normal cleaning/maintenance, unauthorized modifications, use of non-native parts, damage from improper power/water supply/drainage, damage from incorrect installation/cleaning/maintenance, or artificial damage. Warranty service must be provided by an approved agent or repair organization.
