3.4 Rapid operation of R500 radiation scanner
1. Take out R500 radiation scanner, insert 3 AA alkaline batteries and screw the battery cover
tightly.
2. Press the power button for 2 seconds to start the operation.
3. Put the underside of the instrument close to target material, and test for detection of radiation.
Warning: the sensor is highly sensitive and its surface should not be touched directly by fingers
or any other material.
3.5 Slide cover use at underside of instrument
The slide is used to protect the sensor. The instruction for using the slide includes:
1. During transportation or when not in use close the slide to protect the sensor from being
damaged.
2. When detecting α, and β rays, the slide should be moved to expose the sensor because α, and β
rays can be blocked by the slide and lead to failure of detection.
3. When detecting γ and Χ rays, the slide can be closed to protect the sensor because γ and Χ rays
can completely penetrate the slide.
Warning: do not touch the surface of sensor!!
