Toinsureaproperlyoperatingpump:Cleanpump,impellerandintakestrainerevery3weeks.
Failuretodosowillcauseprematurefailureofthepump.
1. Disconnectthepumpfromthepowersupplypriortoremovingthepumpfromthewater.
2. Removetheprelter.Rinseoutprelterspongeofdebris.
3. WithaPhilipsscrewdriverloosenthefourscrewsonthevolute.Now,removethevolute.
4. Oncethevoluteisremoved,cleanwell.Nowverifytheimpellerisfreeofalldirtand
debris.
5. Removetheimpellerandcleanwell.
6. Oncetheimpellerisremoved,slideboththeimpellerandshaftoutofthemainbodyofthe
pumpandcleanwell.Donotuseanysoapdetergentsduringcleaning.
7. Aftertheimpellerandshaftarecleaned,useasmallbrushtocleaninsideofthemotor
housing.
8. ReassembleabovepartsandyourViaAqua®pumpisagainreadytouse.Conrmthatall
thewasherandbushingareassembledproperly.Failuretodosowillcausepermanent
damagetothepump.
9. Replacetheimpellerifthereareanysignsofdamageorexcesswear.
NOTE:Ifthewaterflowistodecrease,it’saclearsignthatdebrisisinsidethe
impellerortheprefilterisclogged.Itistheaquarist’ssoleresponsibilitytoinsurethe
pumpismaintained.Failuretodosowillcausepermanentdamagetothepump.
