The
addresses
of
the
public
symbols
are
in
segment-.oflset
format.
f-\
They
show
the
location
of
the
symbol
relative
to
the
beginning
of
the
load
module,
which
is
assumed
to
be
at
address
0000:0000.
When
the
/high
and
/dsallocate
options
are
used
and
the
(~*^\
program's
code
and
data
combined do
not
exceed
64K
bytes,
the
map
file
may
show
symbols
that
have
unusually
large
segment
addresses.
These
addresses
indicate
a
symbol
whose
location
is
/—v
below
the
actual
start
of
the
program
code
and
data.
For
example,
the
following
symbol
entry
shows
that
TEMPLATE
is
located
below
the
start
of
the
program:
^
FFF0:0A20
TEMPLATE
Note
that
the
20-bit
address
of
TEMPLATE
is
00920H.
The
Temporary
Disk
File
Vm.tmp
r***)
Link
normally
uses
available
memory
for
the
link
session.
If
it
runs
out
of
available
memory,
it
creates
a
temporary
disk
file
named
vmtmp
in
the
current
working
directory.
When
the
linker
/-"^
creates
this
file,
it
displays
the
following
message:
VM.TMP
has
been
created.
^^^
Do
not
change
diskette
in
drive
x:
After
this
message
appears,
you
must
not
remove
the
disk
from
the
drive
specified
by
x
until
the
link
session
ends.
The
/pause
f^\
option
cannot
be
used
if
a
temporary
file
is
created.
After
link
has
created
the
executable
file,
it
deletes
the
temporary
file
automatically.
Note
Do
not use
the
vmtmp
filename
for
your
own
files,
since
when
the
linker
creates
the
temporary
file,
it
destroys
any
previ-
f>
ous
file
that
has
the
same
name.
