Do you have a question about the Compac 2T-C and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document is a multi-language instruction manual for a COMPAC Trolley Jack, a hydraulic garage jack designed for lifting vehicles. It provides comprehensive information on the device's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance across various languages including English, German, Danish, French, Dutch, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, and Polish.

Function Description

The COMPAC Trolley Jack is a hydraulic lifting device primarily designed for raising loads, such as vehicles, in a garage or workshop setting. It is not intended for supporting the load for extended periods; users are explicitly instructed to always use jack stands under the vehicle before commencing inspection or work. The jack operates by pumping a handle (or using a foot pedal on some models) to raise a saddle to the desired lifting height. Lowering the load is achieved by lifting and turning the handle, allowing for controlled descent. An excess-pressure valve is integrated to prevent overloading; if the jack is overloaded, this valve opens, preventing further lifting.

Important Technical Specifications

While specific load capacities are not detailed in the general operating instructions, the calibration section provides guidance based on maximum capacity:

  • Jacks with a maximum capacity of 1.5 - 3 tons: Saddle height for calibration is 250 mm above ground level.
  • Jacks with a maximum capacity of 4 tons or more: Saddle height for calibration is 500 mm above ground level.

The manual emphasizes the use of specific hydraulic oil types:

  • Recommended hydraulic oil: CASTROL HYSPIN AWS-22 or similar oil.
  • Viscosity: 22° cSt at 40° C.
  • Other recommended types: Shell Tellus S22, BP HLP 22, Esso Univis N22, Mobil DTE 22.
  • Prohibited fluids: Brake fluid or motor oil must NOT be used.

Usage Features

Mounting: The handle is inserted into the fork handle and secured by tightening a thumbscrew until it catches a groove in the handle. The handle should be able to be lifted and turned approximately 2 cm.

Lifting a Load:

  1. Saddle to working height: For quick positioning, the foot pedal (if available) or rapid pumping with the handle can be used to bring the lifting saddle into position under the load.
  2. Lifting the load: Once the saddle reaches the load/lifting point, the pump handle is used. The manual specifies pumping from an angle of 45° and down to prevent pump damage and ensure ergonomic operation. Repeated full-stroke pumping at the maximum height should be avoided to prevent damage to the lifting cylinder's seal.

Lowering: To lower the load, the handle is lifted and turned to the right. The speed of lowering can be controlled by the extent of the handle's turn.

Safety Warnings:

  • The jack is for lifting only, not for support. Always use jack stands.
  • Use only on a hard, level, and solid ground surface.
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 0.5m from walls, doors, and fixed objects during lifting.
  • Do not use if it could cause leakage of fuel, battery acid, or other harmful liquids.
  • Only use manufacturer-recommended lifting points on the vehicle.
  • No person should be in the vehicle during lifting.
  • If the jack exhibits safety-affecting irregularities, it must not be operated until repaired.

Maintenance Features

Monthly Maintenance:

  • Lubrication: Lubricate mechanical parts with acid-free oil.
  • Oil level check: With the lifting arm in the lowered position, check the oil level. The oil level should be approximately 10 mm below the filling hole. For some models, the cover plate may need to be removed to access the filling screw. Refer to www.compac.dk under "Services" and "Oil types" for correct oil level and type.

Every Three Months:

  • Castor wheel lubrication: Remove the locking rings on the castor wheels and lubricate the balls with acid-free grease.

Troubleshooting:

  • Jack does not lift high enough: Check the oil level.
  • Worn seals: After several years of use, seals may wear out and should be replaced with an original repair kit.
  • Lowering valve not closing tightly: If the jack cannot lift the load because the lowering valve isn't closing properly, lightly tap the end of the threaded spindle near nut #128, loosen the outer nut, and adjust the clearance to 0.5 - 1.5 mm. Note: Do not turn the spindle during adjustment.

Calibration: Calibration may be necessary during servicing or repair to ensure the jack lifts the exact weight it is designed for, and no more. Specific saddle heights are provided for calibration based on the jack's maximum capacity (250 mm for 1.5-3 tons, 500 mm for 4 tons or more).

Decommissioning: If the jack is to be scrapped, the hydraulic oil must be drained into an approved container and disposed of at an approved authority.
