This document is an installation manual for the CompassPools Rollo Cover®, a type of automatic roller cover for swimming pools. It covers general installation instructions, detailed steps for installing the mechanism, panel, SS frame, and aluminum beam, as well as slat installation, electrical setup, usage, maintenance, and warranty information.
Function Description:
The CompassPools Rollo Cover® is an automatic roller cover designed for swimming pools. Its primary function is to cover and uncover the pool automatically, providing safety and potentially contributing to pool maintenance and heat retention. The system includes a roller shaft, a motor (in-roller motor 24Vdc), fixation parts, a control panel, a key switch, and slats that form the cover. It can be integrated with a level controller and an overflow/refilling system to maintain optimal water levels. The cover is designed to rest on a safety edge when closed, ensuring reduced safety risks.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Roller Shaft: SS AISI 316L tube Ø 139.7x2 mm, L=4m. The shaft includes POM bearings (drive and non-drive side), a ring to lock/secure it, and a non-motor flange.
- Motor: In-roller motor 24Vdc (Part Number AT-002581). The motor cable is 10m long and chlorine resistant.
- Shaft: SS AISI 316L Ø 30 mm, L=170mm.
- PVC Tubing: PVC tube Ø 32mm PVC PN10, PVC socket, 45° PVC elbow Ø 32mm.
- Straps: Used to connect slats to the roller shaft, fixed with M6x12 bolts and washers.
- SS Frame (for OVERFLOW LINE): Standard frame is SS AISI 304L (V2A), with an option for SS AISI 316L (V4A) for salt chlorinator systems (<0.5% salt). The 304L frame comes with 1 drain, while the 316L comes with 2 drains. The frame must be earthed (Rearth connection < 30 Ohm) for optimal corrosion resistance, with a separate earth electrode recommended. Maximum permitted load: 100kg/m. Weight of SS frame: 65kg.
- Aluminium Beam (for COMFORT LINE): Dimensions 110x65mm. Anodised for corrosion protection. Features an adjustable SS bracket on each side for level adjustment. Requires a minimum of 30mm clearance between water level and panel, and between water level and beam to prevent slats from getting stuck.
- Grates: Polypropylene (PP) grates (750/925 x 500 mm) or tropical wood grates (750/925 x 600 mm) can be used to cover the pit. These can be cut to size on site.
- Electrical System:
- Control Board: To be installed in a plant room (never outdoors). Uses flexible wires for connections.
- Key Switch: To be placed where the pool is visible. Used for emergency stop ("0" position) or resetting error messages.
- Connection Box: Used with polyester resin to create a watertight connection for extending the motor cable.
- Fuses: Glass fuse 2A (F1), Fuse 20A (F2).
- Power Supply: 230V AC, 10A fuse, 16A automatic fuse.
- Remote Control: Includes a receiver, relay card with 4x 16A relays (maximum 16A per relay), data cable, plastic plugs, MEMO button, DELETE button, antenna, and transmitter (Channel A for roller cover, Channel B for pool lights).
- Wiring: Shielded cable for flexible wires. Motor cable is 10m long.
- Water Level Control: Connects to J4 between 10-11 on the control panel.
- Programmable Inputs: J5 (12, 13) are optional programmable inputs.
- Ethernet Connection: J7.
- Remote Control Signal: J8 for extra connector.
Usage Features:
- Automatic Operation: The cover operates automatically, controlled via a key switch and remote control.
- Safety: Requires the pool to be clear of obstacles, people, and pets during operation. The cover rests on a safety edge when closed.
- Water Level Management: An overflow and refilling system is highly recommended to maintain a correct water level. A level controller can be connected to the control panel.
- Emergency Stop: The key switch can be turned to "0" for an emergency stop or to reset error messages.
- Manual Operation: Not allowed to manually open and close the cover.
- Solar Slats: If solar slats are used, the filtration pump must always be switched on when the cover is closed to distribute heat and cool the slats, preventing damage from excessive heat buildup.
Maintenance Features:
- In-Roller Motor: Maintenance-free.
- Slats:
- Cleaning: Clean at least twice a year with a high-pressure cleaner to remove lime and dirt. Do NOT use a steamer.
- Algae Prevention: For transparent or solar slats, use an algaecide if algae appear. Maintain normal chlorine and pH values in the pool water.
- Temperature Control: Water temperature should not exceed 32°C.
- Sunlight Exposure: Slats should only be exposed to sunlight when floating on pool water (cover closed) or rolled up underwater (cover open). Protect slats from direct sunlight when out of water.
- Physical Stress: Do not walk on the pool cover. Avoid contact with hard objects, especially at low temperatures (frost) as slats become more fragile.
- Storm Protection: Open the pool cover during hail storms to prevent damage.
- Condensation: Condensation inside the waterproof slats with end caps is normal due to PVC allowing vapor through.
- Wintering:
- Frost-Free Operation: If the pool is in operation and frost-free, normal cover operation can continue.
- Pool Not in Operation: If filtration is stopped and water level is lowered, clean the slats and roll them onto the roller shaft. Protect them from sunlight.
- Troubleshooting: The control box provides error codes (Runtime Error, Stop Activated, Water Level 1, Maximum Current, No Pulses, Temperature) with corresponding explanations and actions. Errors can be reset by turning the key switch to "0" and then back to "1".
