The Comsol CMHD02 is a USB-C Dual HDMI Adapter designed for Windows computers equipped with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode. This adapter allows users to connect two HDMI monitors to their computer, supporting both duplicate and extended desktop modes.

Function Description:

The primary function of the CMHD02 adapter is to extend or duplicate a computer's display onto two external HDMI monitors. It utilizes the DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt-Mode) technology available on compatible USB-C ports to transmit video signals. The adapter features a USB-C male cable for connection to the host computer and two HDMI ports for connecting external displays.

  • Dimensions (Excluding cable): 66 x 64 x 15mm
  • Weight: 71g
  • Compatibility: Requires a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt-Mode). Also compatible with Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 ports, as these also support DP Alt-Mode.

Usage Features:

  1. Connection: To use the adapter, plug the USB-C male cable into a compatible USB-C port on your Windows computer. Ensure your computer's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode for video output.
  2. Single Display Operation: For maximum single display resolution, connect your HDMI monitor to HDMI Port 1. This port supports up to 3840 x 2160 @60Hz.
  3. Dual Display Operation: Connect both HDMI monitors to ports 1 and 2 for dual display functionality. When using both ports for dual 4K Ultra HD displays, the maximum resolution supported is 3840 x 2160 @30Hz on both HDMI 1 and HDMI 2.
  4. Windows Display Settings:
    • Duplicate Mode: To duplicate your display across the external monitors, right-click on an empty area of the desktop, choose "Display Settings," scroll down to the "Multiple displays" area, and select "Duplicate these displays."
    • Extended Mode: To extend your desktop across the external monitors, follow the same steps as above but select "Extend these displays."
  5. Plug and Play: The adapter is designed for ease of use, allowing for quick connection and setup.

Maintenance Features / Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor Not Working: If a connected monitor is not displaying video, first verify that your computer's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Many USB-C ports look identical but not all support video output. Check your computer's specifications, owner's manual, or the manufacturer's website for this information. If your USB-C port is Thunderbolt 3 or 4, it inherently supports DP Alt-Mode and should work.
  • Connection Issues: If you encounter any connection problems, try unplugging and re-plugging the USB-C multiport adapter from your computer, or unplugging and re-plugging the specific HDMI connection experiencing issues.
  • Multiport Adapter Temperature: It is normal for the USB-C multiport adapter to become warm during operation. This is not a cause for concern. To help minimize heat, it is recommended to use the adapter on a desk or table in a well-ventilated area.
