One-piece Moldable Ostomy System
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Esteem™ + pouches with ConvaTec Moldable Technology™ are one-piece closed or drainable ostomy pouches with a moldable
skin barrier allowing the stoma opening to be customized without the use of scissors.
PRECAUTIONS AND OBSERVATIONS
This device is for single-use only and should not be re-used. Re-use may lead to increased risk of infection and cross
contamination. Physical properties of the device may no longer be optimal for intended use.
Important: A healthcare professional should assess the need for skin barriers with convexity prior to use.
INDICATION
For the management of stomal output from a colostomy or ileostomy.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1. Skin preparation
Your hands and the skin surrounding the stoma must be clean, dry and free from oily substances before applying.
2. Skin barrier preparation
A) Remove the moldable disc from the pouch. (Figure 1)
B) Grasp the tab labeled “1” and remove the rst part of the moldable-side release liner, exposing the moldabling area of
the moldable disc. (Figure 2)
C) To personalize the stoma opening, place your thumbs (and ngers) at the edge of the starter hole and roll the adhesive
back onto itself until you create an opening of the desired size and shape that matches your stoma. Do not stretch,
pull or cut the adhesive to make it larger. (Figure 3)
D) To check the t, place the opening above the stoma without removing the second release liner. Adjust if necessary.
3. Applying the moldable disc
A) Grasp the tab labeled “2” and remove the body side release liner. You will apply this side of the moldable disc to your
skin. (Figure 4)
B) Apply the molded disc to the skin around the stoma. Press the disc to the skin all around the stoma. (Figure 5a)
C) If an area of skin is exposed, gently ease the molded adhesive towards the stoma. (Figure 5b)
D) Grasp the tab labeled “3” and remove the second part of the moldable-side release liner. (Figure 6)
4. Applying the pouch
A) Separate pouch lms to allow air to enter. (Figure 7))
B) Remove the release liner from the pouch wafer. (Figure 8)
C) Apply the pouch to the moldable disc and skin. It may be easier to visualize the placement if the pouch is folded at the
centerline of the pouch wafer. Apply the bottom portion of the pouch skin barrier to the skin and molded disc. Remove
the upper part of the release liner from the pouch skin barrier then unfold the top half onto the skin around the
remaining part of the stoma. (Figure 9)
D) Run your nger around the pouch adhesive to assure a good bond and hold for 30 seconds. (Figure 10)
Wear as long as comfortable and secure. Wear time may vary.
5. Closing the pouch
A) Drainable pouches with INVISICLOSE™ tail closure (Figure 11a – 11e)
Fold tail closure beginning with the white outlet end-strip until interlocking closures overlap. Press interlocking
closures together across the width of the tail and squeeze until you feel them close. If desired, turn pocket inside-out to
conceal the tail closure.
6. Emptying the pouch
Drainable pouches with INVISICLOSE™ tail closure (Figure 12a – 12 c)
Unlock pouch closure and open the tail by pushing in both ends of the outlet end-strips with ngers; drain pouch.
7. Information about pouches with lters
Cover the lter with the sticker provided when bathing, swimming, etc. Remove after water activity.
8. Removing the pouch
The one-piece system should lift o in its entirety, in one step. (Figure 13)
