Cordless Extendable Hedge Trimmer 10653 Instructions for Use
Please read and retain these instructions for future reference v002: 20/12/16
DO NOT WEAR LOOSE CLOTHING OR JEWELLERY THAT CAN GET CAUGHT IN THE MOVING
BLADES OR PARTS OF THE HEDGE TRIMMER.
• ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND SUBSTANTIAL FOOTWEAR WHEN WORKING
OUTSIDE.
• ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE HAIR COVERING TO CONTAIN LONG HAIR.
• ALWAYS WEAR A FACE OR DUST MASK IF OPERATION IS DUSTY.
• ALWAYS WEAR EYE & EAR PROTECTION.
8. DO NOT OPERATE THE HEDGE TRIMMER NEAR ELECTRIC POWER LINES, TELEPHONE OR CABLE
LINES. KEEP TRIMMER AT LEAST 3.5M (10FT) AWAY FROM ANY POWER LINES OR CABLES.
9. HOLD THE HEDGE TRIMMER BY INSULATED HAND-GRIPS ONLY. TRIMMER BLADES CONTACTING
A “LIVE” WIRE MAY MAKE EXPOSED METAL PARTS OF THE POWER TOOL ”LIVE” AND COULD
GIVE THE OPERATOR AN ELECTRIC SHOCK.
10. THIS HEDGE TRIMMER SHOULD NOT BE USED BY PERSONS (INCLUDING CHILDREN) WITH
REDUCED PHYSICAL, SENSORY OR MENTAL CAPABILITIES, OR LACK OF EXPERIENCE AND
KNOWLEDGE, UNLESS THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN SUPERVISION OR INSTRUCTION CONCERNING
USE OF THE APPLIANCE BY A PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR SAFETY.
While operating Hedge Trimmer:
1. Avoid unintentional starting.
2. Do not carry the Hedge Trimmer with the battery plugged in, or the guard off.
3. Ensure the blades are facing to the rear when carrying and that you hold the pole by the balance
point to prevent it tipping when being moved.
4. Do not over-reach - ensure a firm footing and good balance at all times.
5. Do not attempt to cut any branches exceeding the maximum cutting diameter.
6. Do not stand directly beneath where you are trimming.
7. Use the shoulder strap for increased safety.
8. Do not touch the trimmer blades while they are moving or while the battery is connected.
DANGER - RISK OF INJURY
Keep hands away from blades at all times. Keep both hands on handle areas when the Hedge
Trimmer is on. Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are
moving. Do not grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or holding the
Hedge Trimmer.
CAUTION - blades coast to a stop after switching off.
Always remove the battery
When not in use.
Before servicing.
When changing accessories such as blades.
When clearing jammed material from blades.
When moving from one work site to another.
Do not force the Hedge Trimmer - it will do the job better and with less likelihood of a risk of
injury.
Before starting the Hedge Trimmer, make sure blades are not in contact with anything.
