Overview

This document is the user's manual for the COSTWAY Ice Cream Maker, model EP24899US. It provides essential information regarding the device's specifications, features, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The COSTWAY Ice Cream Maker is designed to produce quick-frozen ice cream. It features a knob control for simple and reliable operation, allowing users to select different modes for ice cream making. The device incorporates a compressor, mixing motor, and cooling fan to facilitate the ice cream production process. It also includes a "Keep Cool" function to maintain the fresh taste and texture of ice cream after completion, and a "Motor Self-Protection" function to prevent damage when the ice cream becomes too hard.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: EP24899US
  • Capacity: 1L
  • Voltage: 120V/60Hz
  • Anti-shock protection class: I
  • Climate type: N/SN
  • Net Weight (N.W): 16 LBS
  • Gross Weight (G.W): 20.2 LBS

Usage Features

The ice cream maker offers several modes of operation:

  • Single Mixing Mode: Activates the mixing motor for 30 minutes. A series of 10 beeps indicates completion.
  • Single Refrigeration Mode: Starts the compressor and cooling fan for 30 minutes to cool the ingredients. 10 beeps signal completion.
  • Ice Cream Mode: Engages the compressor, mixing motor, and cooling fan simultaneously to make ice cream. Upon completion, 10 short beeps are emitted. If no further action is taken, the machine automatically enters an insulation function, cooling for 10 minutes every 10 minutes for up to 1 hour, followed by 10 short beeps and automatic shutdown.

Important Notices for Usage:

  • Read all instructions before use.
  • After positioning the appliance for the first time, wait 2 hours and keep the transparent lid open for at least 2 hours.
  • Use spring water instead of pure water.
  • Ensure the voltage matches the rating label and the socket is properly earthed.
  • Do not overturn the product or incline it over a 45° angle.
  • Keep the appliance 8cm (3") from other objects for proper heat release.
  • Do not switch on the power button frequently (ensure at least a 5-minute interval) to avoid compressor damage.
  • Do not insert metal sheets or other electric objects into the appliance.
  • The initial temperature of the ice cream mixture should be 25±5°C. Do not pre-freeze the mixture.
  • Do not remove the motor and transparent cover during operation.
  • The appliance is intended for household and similar applications.
  • Children aged 3 to 8 years are allowed to load and unload refrigerating appliances under supervision.
  • When positioning, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.
  • Do not locate multiple portable socket-outlets or power supplies at the rear of the appliance.
  • To avoid contamination, clean surfaces regularly, clean water tanks if unused for 48 hours, and flush the water system if water has not been drawn for 5 days. If left empty for long periods, switch off, defrost, clean, dry, and leave the door open.
  • The ingredients should not exceed 60% of the removable bowl's capacity to prevent overflow as ice cream expands during formation.
  • If the ice cream machine starts without adding ice cream, a slight scraping sound from the mixing blade is normal.
  • Ensure water stains are wiped from the transparent cover and copper plates on the motor assembly to prevent power failure.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
    • Remove and wipe the mixing blade with a dampened cloth.
    • Remove and clean the removable bowl with a dampened soft cloth.
    • Wipe the transparent lid and refill lid with a dampened cloth.
    • Clean the body and other parts with a dampened cloth; do not pour water on the cord, plug, ventilation, or immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
    • Allow all parts to dry thoroughly with a dry cloth before reassembling.
  • General Care:
    • Do not use chemical cleaners or hard tools to clean the product.
    • Do not use a dishwasher to clean the loading bowl.
    • Do not wash the evaporator directly with water.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • If the loading bowl is difficult to remove after ice cream is finished, wait 3-8 minutes. This is often due to frozen water drops between the refrigeration barrel and the loading bowl.
    • If the transparent lid cannot be stuck in place, ensure the mixing fan blades are correctly positioned and aligned with the convex hull at the bottom.
    • If the loading bowl cannot be placed in the cold bucket or the mixing fan is scratched/jammed, it may be due to deformation from improper use, requiring a new loading bowl.

Safety Precautions:

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

  • Unplug the appliance after use or before cleaning.
  • Do not place the product next to high-temperature gas or electric stoves.
  • When taking out ice cream, do not knock the surface or edge of the container to avoid damage.
  • Do not start the power switch if the ice cream container barrel or mixing fan blade is not properly installed.
  • The compressor has a 3-minute protection time after switching modes (ice cream/refrigeration to shutdown and back). Unplugging and restarting the machine will bypass this delay.
