This document describes the COSTWAY Home Dehumidifier ES10104US, a device designed to remove excessive moisture from the air, thereby protecting buildings and their contents from the adverse effects of high humidity.
Function Description
The primary function of the dehumidifier is to reduce relative humidity. It offers several modes and features to optimize air quality and comfort:
- Dehumidification: Effectively removes moisture from the air.
- Air Purifying: Helps remove dust and dust mites.
- Auto Mode: Automatically adjusts humidity levels to maintain ideal conditions.
- Laundry Drying Function: Provides continuous dehumidifying to speed up the drying process for clothes.
- Sleep Mode: Operates silently with a low fan speed and dims control panel lights for undisturbed sleep.
- Timer Function: Allows users to set a 1-hour to 24-hour delay for the unit to turn off automatically.
- Auto-Defrost Function: Automatically initiates defrosting when frost builds up on the evaporator at low room temperatures (below 64.4°F/18°C), ensuring efficient operation.
- Overload Protection: In case of power loss, there is a 3-minute delay before the compressor restarts to protect it.
- Water Full Indicator: The machine automatically shuts off and buzzes 15 times when the water tank is full, alerting the user to empty and re-install it.
Important Technical Specifications
While specific numerical values for all specifications are not provided, the manual highlights several key technical aspects:
- Moisture Removal Capacity: Up to 12L/day dehumidification.
- Water Tank Capacity: 2L.
- Fan Speeds: Two speed settings (High and Low).
- Noise Level: Quiet fan with noise levels ≤36dB (A).
- Operating Temperature Range: 41°F to 95°F (5°C to 35°C).
- Humidity Setting Range: 20%-95% relative humidity.
- Power Consumption: Low power consumption, energy efficient.
- Drain Hose Inner Diameter: 9.5mm for continuous drainage.
- Power Breathing Light Indicators:
- Blue (Steady On): Humidity levels below 40% relative humidity.
- Blue (Flashing): Defrosting in progress.
- Green (Steady On): Above 40% and below 60% relative humidity.
- Green (Flashing): Air purifying function is individually turned on.
- Red (Steady On): High humidity above 60% relative humidity.
- Red (Flashing): Water tank is almost full.
Usage Features
The dehumidifier is designed for user-friendliness with several convenient features:
- Touch Screen / Touch Control Buttons: Modern interface for easy operation.
- Digital Display: Shows humidity value, timer setting, or temperature.
- Mode Button: Allows selection between Sunny (auto dehumidifying with 60%RH, High fan speed), Rainy (auto dehumidifying with 40%RH, high fan speed), and Continuous Drying modes.
- Humidity Button: Adjusts the humidity set-point within the 20%-95% range (not available in continuous mode).
- Fan Speed Button: Switches between High and Low fan speeds (not available in sleep mode or during defrosting).
- Child Lock Function: Disables all buttons to prevent children from playing with the unit. Activated by long-pressing the SPEED/LOCK key for 5 seconds.
- Placement: Should be placed on a firm, level surface with at least 7.8" (20cm) of free space around it for proper air circulation. Doors and windows should be kept closed for better energy saving.
- Drainage Options:
- Manual Draining: Emptying the 2L water tank manually.
- Continuous Draining: Attaching a drain hose (9.5mm inner diameter) to allow condensate water to flow into a bucket or drain by gravity. The unit must be on a horizontal and stable surface, and the hose should be tilted downward (exceeding 20 degrees inclination) to prevent "Air Lock."
- Room Temperature Inspection: Long-pressing the TIMER button for 5 seconds displays the current room temperature on the digital display.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the dehumidifier's longevity and performance:
- Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter is removable and should be cleaned every two weeks by rinsing it under running water. The unit should not be operated without the air filter.
- Water Tank Cleaning: The water tank should be cleaned regularly using mild soap, water, and a soft cloth. Do not use commercial cleaning solvents. Ensure the float inside the tank can move freely.
- Storage: For long-term storage, the unit should be unplugged, the water tank emptied and dried, the filter cleaned and dried, and the power cord collected. It must be stored in an upright position in a ventilating, dry, non-corrosive gas, and safe indoor place. The evaporator should be dried out completely before storage to prevent mold. This can be done by placing the unit in a dry open area for days or by setting the humidity point 5% higher than ambient humidity for a couple of hours to force the fan to dry the evaporator.
- Disposal: Used electrical appliances must be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally sound manner. Releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere is strictly forbidden.
