SPECIFICATION

Overview

This document describes the Coway Airmega 160(W) and Airmega 160(N) air purifiers, designed for domestic use only, operating at 120 V~, 60 Hz. It emphasizes the importance of reading the user manual for proper use and maintenance, and notes that the paper manual is recyclable.

Function Description

The Coway Airmega 160 series is an air purifier designed to improve indoor air quality. It features a real-time air quality display that shows the indoor air quality (IAQ) through a four-level color display, allowing users to monitor their environment instantly. The device is equipped with a powerful Green True HEPA™ filter system that intelligently optimizes its operation to remove contaminants based on the room's current air quality.

The air purification process involves a three-stage filter system:

  1. Pre-filter: This initial filter removes large dust particles, mold, hair, and pet hair from the air.
  2. Deodorization filter: This filter is specifically designed to trap odors and harmful gases, ensuring the space remains fresh and odor-free.
  3. Green True HEPA™ filter: This advanced filter captures and reduces airborne particles such as pollen, pollution, and other allergens.

The device also includes a filter replacement indicator that notifies users when it's time to clean or replace the Green True HEPA™ filter and the Deodorization filter, simplifying filter management.

Usage Features

The Coway Airmega 160 offers several user-friendly features:

  • Control Panel: Located on the top of the device, the control panel includes a Power Button, Speed Button, and Air Quality Indicator Light On/Off / Filter Replacement Button.
  • Power On/Off: Press the power button to turn the air purifier on or off. To power off, press and hold the power button for one second.
  • Fan Speed Adjustment: The Speed Button allows users to adjust the fan speed. Available settings are Auto → 1 → 2 → 3.
  • Auto Mode: This mode automatically optimizes the fan speed (1 through 3) based on the indoor air quality detected by the dust sensor. It is recommended for general users, with Auto Level 1 for Pollution Level 1, Auto Level 2 for Pollution Level 2, and Auto Level 3 for Pollution Levels 3 and 4.
  • Air Quality Indicator Light: This light can be turned on or off by pressing the Air Quality Indicator Light On/Off / Filter Replacement Button.
  • Particle Sensor Adjustment: The sensitivity of the air quality sensor can be adjusted. By default, it is set to standard sensitivity. Users can change it to High, Standard, or Low if the pollution level display seems inaccurate. This adjustment is done by simultaneously pressing the power and speed buttons for more than 2 seconds, then using the speed button to select the desired sensitivity, and finally pressing the power and speed buttons again for more than 2 seconds to confirm.
  • Filter Installation: Filters must be installed after removing their plastic wrapping. The correct assembly sequence is Deodorization filter → Green True HEPA™ filter. The product will not operate if the front cover is not fixed correctly.
  • Polarized Plug: The appliance has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) to reduce the risk of electric shock. It is designed to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If it doesn't fit, reverse the plug. If it still doesn't fit, contact a qualified electrician.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance:

  • Pre-filter Cleaning (Every two weeks): The pre-filter can be easily removed by pulling its handle. Dust can be removed with a vacuum cleaner or water, depending on the degree of pollution. After washing, it must be dried completely in a shady place with good ventilation before reinstallation. It can be hung to dry on the hook at the top of the front cover.
  • Air Quality Sensor Cleaning (Every 2 months): The air intake and outlet of the sensor should be cleaned with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. The sensor cover on the right-hand side of the product can be opened to wipe the lens, dust inlet, and dust outlet with a dry cotton swab. Regular cleaning prevents deterioration of sensor performance.
  • Front Cover Cleaning: Use a soft cloth or brush to wipe off dust. A slightly wet cloth can be used for high contamination (avoid abrasives).
  • Main Body Cleaning: Use a dry and soft cloth. A slightly wet cloth can be used for high contamination (avoid abrasives).
  • Deodorization Filter and Green True HEPA™ Filter Replacement:
    • Deodorization filter: Replace every 6 months.
    • Green True HEPA™ filter: Replace every 1 year.
    • These filters are consumables and cannot be washed or restored by cleaning.
    • To replace, open the front cover, remove the entire filter set, separate the Green True HEPA™ filter and deodorization filter, clean the area (except the filters), assemble the new filters (deodorization filter first, then Green True HEPA™ filter), and close the front cover.
    • After replacement, reset the filter replacement indicator light by pressing the air quality indicator light on/off button & filter replacement button for 3 seconds.
  • General Cleaning Precautions: Always unplug the air purifier before cleaning. Do not use detergents containing organic solvents (solvent, thinner, etc.), bleach, chlorine, or abrasives. Do not immerse the air purifier in water or spray water directly on it.

The manual also provides troubleshooting tips for common issues such as no air blowing, unchanged airflow speed, weak airflow, bad odors, and persistent air quality indicator colors, advising users to check power connections, filter conditions, and sensor cleanliness before contacting customer service.
