Overview

This document outlines the procedures for managing system troubles and alerts, specifically focusing on how to acknowledge them and silence trouble beeps, both from the security panel and through a mobile application.

Function Description

The device, likely a security system panel, provides visual and auditory alerts for various system troubles and alarms. It allows users to monitor the status of different components, such as door/window sensors (e.g., "Coat Closet Trap"), smoke detectors, and keypads ("Pinpad"). The system is designed to notify users of active issues and provides mechanisms to acknowledge these issues and temporarily silence audible trouble beeps. The associated mobile application extends this functionality, offering remote access to system status, settings, and alert management.

Usage Features

From the Panel:

  1. Waking the Panel: To begin any interaction, the user must first tap the touch screen to wake the panel from its idle state. This ensures the display is active and responsive.

  2. Accessing Alerts: Once the panel is awake, the user needs to locate and tap the "envelope" icon, typically situated in the top right corner of the screen. This icon serves as the gateway to the system's notification center.

  3. Viewing and Acknowledging Troubles/Alerts: After tapping the envelope icon, the user will navigate to the "Messages/Alerts/Alarms" section. This screen displays a comprehensive list of all current troubles and alerts affecting the security system. The user has two primary options for acknowledging these issues:

    • Individual Acknowledgment: Each trouble or alert listed can be acknowledged individually. This is useful when addressing specific issues one by one.
    • Bulk Acknowledgment: For situations with multiple active issues, the system provides an "Acknowledge All" option. Tapping this will clear all currently displayed troubles and alerts from the list, indicating that the user has seen and registered them.
  4. Silencing Trouble Beeps (Panel): The document also describes how to silence trouble beeps directly from the panel, although the detailed steps for this specific action are provided under the "From The Application" section. The general process involves navigating to settings related to "Trouble Beeps" and selecting an option to turn them off for a specified duration.

From the Application:

The mobile application offers a convenient way to manage the security system remotely, including handling alerts and trouble beeps.

  1. Accessing the Menu: To start, the user must open the application and tap the "menu tab." This tab, often represented by a hamburger icon (three horizontal lines), provides access to the main navigation options of the app.

  2. Navigating to Security System Settings: From the menu, the user needs to select "Security System." This section of the application is dedicated to managing the core functions and settings of the security system.

  3. Accessing Settings Icon: On the "Security System" page, the user will find a "settings icon," typically located in the upper right corner of the screen. Tapping this icon reveals further configuration options for the security system.

  4. Managing Trouble Beeps (Application): Within the security system settings, the user can control the audible trouble beeps:

    • Selecting "Trouble Beeps": The user should select the "Trouble Beeps" option from the list of settings.
    • Turning "On" (to access silencing options): Counterintuitively, to access the option to silence beeps, the user first selects "On" for "Trouble Beeps." This action then presents further choices.
    • Choosing "Turn Off for 7 Days": After selecting "On," a prompt will appear with the option "Turn Off for 7 Days." This allows the user to temporarily silence all trouble beeps from the panel for a week.
    • Confirming "Turn Off": A final prompt will ask the user to confirm their choice, offering "Cancel" or "Turn Off." Selecting "Turn Off" will silence all trouble beeps at the panel for the specified 7-day period.
    • Automatic Reversion: It's important to note that after the 7-day period, the trouble beeps will automatically revert to their "On" state, ensuring that the user is re-notified of any persistent or new issues.

Maintenance Features

The document primarily focuses on operational usage and alert management rather than explicit maintenance features. However, the ability to acknowledge troubles and silence beeps can be considered a form of user-level maintenance, as it allows users to manage the system's alerts and ensure they are aware of any issues that might require attention (e.g., a "Pinpad - Failure" or a "Coat Closet Trap" issue). The automatic reversion of trouble beeps to "On" after 7 days also serves as a maintenance reminder, preventing users from permanently overlooking system issues. The "Messages/Alerts/Alarms" section, accessible from both the panel and the application, acts as a diagnostic tool, providing a clear overview of the system's health and any components that may require servicing or further investigation. The option to contact the dealer for assistance (as seen in one of the screenshots) also points to a support structure for system maintenance.
