SafeHandling of Gasoline:
Toavoidpersonalinjuryor propertydamageuseextremecarein
handlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremelyflammableandthevaporsare
explosive.Seriouspersonalinjurycan occurwhengasolineis spilled
onyourselfor yourclotheswhichcanignite.Washyour skinand
changeclothesimmediately.
• Useonlyan approvedgasolinecontainer.
• Neverfill containersinsidea vehicleor ona truckor trailerbed
witha plasticliner.Alwaysplacecontainersonthegroundaway
fromyourvehiclebeforefilling.
• Whenpractical,removegas-poweredequipmentfromthetruck
ortrailerand refuelitonthe ground.Ifthisis notpossible,then
refuelsuchequipmenton a trailerwitha portablecontainer,rather
thanfroma gasolinedispensernozzle.
• Keepthe nozzleincontactwiththerimofthe fueltankor
containeropeningatalltimes untilfuelingiscomplete.Do notuse
a nozzlelock-opendevice.
• Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipesandothersourcesof
ignition.
• Neverfuel machineindoors.
• Neverremovegas capor addfuel whilethe engineishot or run-
ning.Allowenginetocool atleasttwo minutesbeforerefueling.
• Neveroverfillfueltank.Fill tankto nomorethan1/2inchbelow
bottomoffiller necktoallowspaceforfuel expansion.
• Replacegasolinecapandtightensecurely.
• Ifgasolineisspilled,wipe itoff theengineandequipment.Move
unitto anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbeforestartingthe engine.
• To reducefirehazards,keepmachinefreeof grass,leaves,or
otherdebrisbuild-up.Cleanupoil orfuel spillageand removeany
fuelsoakeddebris.
• Neverstorethe machineorfuelcontainerinsidewherethereis an
openflame,sparkor pilotlightas on awaterheater,spaceheater,
furnace,clothesdryerorothergasappliances.
OPERATION
• Do notputhandsandfeetnearrotatingpartsor in thefeeding
chambersanddischargeopening.Contactwiththe rotating
impellercanamputatefingers,hands,andfeet.
• Beforestartingthemachine,makesurethechipperchute,feed
intake,andcuttingchamberare emptyandfreeof all debris.
• Thoroughlyinspectall materialtobe shreddedandremoveany
metal,rocks,bottles,cans,or otherforeignobjectswhichcould
causepersonalinjuryor damageto themachine.
• If it becomesnecessaryto pushmaterialthroughthe shredder
hopper,usea smalldiameterstick. Donot useyour handsor feet.
• Ifthe impellerstrikesa foreignobjector if yourmachineshould
startmakinganunusualnoiseorvibration,immediatelyshut
theengineoff. Allowthe impellertocometoa completestop.
Disconnectthe sparkplugwire,grounditagainstthe engineand
performthefollowingsteps:
a. Inspectfor damage.
b. Repairor replaceanydamagedparts.
c. Checkfor anyloose partsandtightento assurecontinued
safeoperation.
• Donotallowanaccumulationof processedmaterialto buildupin
thedischargearea.Thiscanpreventproperdischargeandresult
inkickbackof materialthroughthefeedopening.
• Donotattemptto shredorchip materiallargerthanspecified
on themachineor inthis manual.Personalinjuryor machine
damagecouldresult.
• Neverattemptto unclogeitherthe feedintakeor discharge
openingwhilethe engineisrunning.Shuttheengineoff,waituntil
all movingpartshavestopped,disconnectthesparkplugwireand
grounditagainsttheenginebeforeclearingdebris.
• Neveroperatewithoutthe shredderhopper,chipperchute,or
chutedeflectorproperlyattachedtothe machine.Neveremptyor
changedischargebagwhiletheengineis running.
• Keepallguards,deflectorsand safetydevicesin placeand
operatingproperly.
• Keepyourfaceandbodybackandto thesideofthe chipper
chutewhilefeedingmaterialintothemachineto avoidaccidental
kickbackinjuries.
• Neveroperatethis machinewithoutgoodvisibilityorlight.
• Donotoperatethismachineona paved,gravelor non-level
surface.
• Donotoperatethismachinewhileundertheinfluenceof alcohol
or drugs.
• Mufflerandenginebecomehot andcancausea burn.Do not
touch.
• Neverpick uporcarrymachinewhiletheengineis running.
• Ifsituationsoccurwhichare notcoveredinthis manual,usecare
andgoodjudgement.ContactCustomerSupportforassistance
andthenameofthe nearestservicedealer.
MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
• Nevertamperwith safetydevices.Checktheirproperoperation
regularly.
• Checkboltsandscrewsfor propertightnessat frequentintervals
to keepthemachineinsafeworkingcondition.Also,visually
inspectmachinefor anydamageandrepair,if needed.
• Beforecleaning,repairing,or inspecting,stoptheengineand
makecertaintheimpellerandall movingpartshavestopped.
Disconnectthe sparkplugwireandgrounditagainsttheengine
to preventunintendedstarting.
• Donotchangethe enginegovernorsettingsoroverspeedthe
engine.Thegovernorcontrolsthe maximumsafeoperatingspeed
ofthe engine.
