Your chipper-vacuum was built to be operated according to the rules for safe operation in
this manua. As with any type of power equipment carelessness or error on the part of the
operator can result in serious injury. This unit is capable of amputating fingers and hands
and throwing objects. Failure to observe the following safety instructions couso result in
serious injury or death.
_hl. GENERALOPERATION
Readthis owner'sguide carefullyin its entiretybeforeattempt-
ing to assemblethis machine. Read,understand,andfollow all
instructionsonthe machineand in the manual(s)beforeopera-
tion. Becompletelyfamiliarwith thecontrolsandthe properuse
of the machinebeforeoperatingit. Keepthis manualin a safe
piecefor future and regularreferenceand for orderingreplace-
mentparts.
Your chipper-vacuum is a powerful tool, not a plaything.
Therefore,exerciseextremecautionat all times. Your unit has
beendesignedto performtwo jobs;to chipandvacuumvegeta-
tionfoundina normalyard. Donotuseit for any otherpurpose.
Neverallow childrenunder16 to operatethe unit. Children16
yearsand oldershouldonly operateundercloseparentalsuper-
vision. Onlyresponsibleindividuatswho arefamiliarwith these
rulesof safeoperationshouldbeallowedto useyour unit.
Keepthe areaof operationclearof all persons,particularlysmall
childrenandpets. Stop the enginewhen theyarein the vicinity
oftheunit.
Whenfeedingmaterialinto this equipment,beextremelycareful
that piecesof metal,rocks,bottles,cansor otherforeign objects
are not included. Personalinjury or damageto the machine
couldresult.
Alwayswear safetyglassesor safetygoggles,duringoperation
and while performing an adjustmentor repair, to protect eyes
from foreignobjectsthat maybethrownfromthe machine.
Wearsturdy, rough-soledwork shoesand close fitting slacks
and shirt. Shirt and slacksthat cover the arms and legs and
steel-toedshoesare recommended.Do not wear loosefitting
clothesor jewelryand securehairso it aboveshoulderlength.
Theycan be caught in moving parts. Neveroperatea unit in
barefeet,sandalsor sneakers.Weargloveswhenfeedingmate-
rialinthe chipperchute.
Do not operatethe unit while underthe influenceof alcoholor
drugs.
Do notover-reach.Keepproperfootingandbalanceatalltimes.
Neverplaceyourhandsor anypartofyour bodyor clothingnear
or underrotatingparts. Keepclear of the dischargeopeningat
all times Neverinsertyour handsor anypart of your bodyor
clothing into the nozzle,chipperchute or dischargeopeningas
therotatingimpetlercancauseseriousinjury.
If it is necessaryfor anyreasonto unclogthe feed intakeor dis-
chargeopeningsor to inspector repairanypartof themachine
wherea moving part can come in contact with your body or
clothing,stopthe machine+allowit to cool,disconnectthe spark
plugwire fromthe sparkplugand moveit awayfrom the spark
plugbeforeattemptingto unclog,inspector repair.
Neveroperate unit without vacuum bag and discharge chute
properly affixedto unit, Largezipperedend of bag must be
closedto preventobjectsfrom beingblownout.
Neveroperate unit without either the inlet nozzleor optional
hoseattachmentproperlyaffixedto unit. Thesedevicesshield
the operatorfrom accidentalcontactwith the rotating impeller.
Neverattemptto convertthe unitfrom nozzleto hose mode or
viceversawith theenginerunning.
Neverattemptto removeor emptyvacuum bagwhenengineis
running. Shuttheengineoffandwaitfor theimpellerto cometo
a completestop beforeremovingthe bag. Theimpetlercontin-
uesto rotate for a few secondsafter the engine is shut off.
Neverplaceany part of the body in the impellerareauntil you
aresuretheimpellerhasstoppedrotating.
Keepall guardsandsafetydevicesin placeandoperatingprop-
erly.
Do not allow anaccumulationof processedmaterialto build up
in thedischargeareaasthis will preventproper dischargeand
canresuttin kick-backfrom the chipperchute.
Keepyour faceandbodybackfrom chipperchuteto avoidacci-
dentalbouncebackof anymaterial.
If the cutting mechanismstrikes a foreign object or if your
machineshould start making an unusualnoise or vibration,
immediatelystopthe engine,disconnectthe sparkplugwire and
movethewire awayfrom the sparkplug. Allow the machineto
stopandtakethe followingsteps.
Inspectfor damage
Repairor replaceanydamagedparts.
Checkfor any loosepartsand tighten to assure continued
safeoperation.
Muffterand enginebecomehot and cancausea burn. Donot
touch.
Donot altowleavesor otherdebristo buildupon engine'smuf-
fler. Thedebriscould igniteandcauseafire.
Donot operateengineff air cleaneror coverovercarburetorair-
intake is removed,except for adjustment. Removal of such
partscouldcreateafire hazard.

Tragicaccidentscanoccur if the operatorisnot alertto the pres-
enceof smallchildren. Childrenareoftenattractedto the chipping
and vacuumingactivity. Neverassumethat children will remain
whereyoulastsawthem.
Keepchildrenout of theworkareaandunderthewatchfuleyeof
a responsibleadultotherthantheoperator.
Bealertandturntheunitoff if echildentersthe area.
Neverallow childrenunderthe ageof 16to operatethe chipper-
Vacuum.

Use extreme care in handling gasoline and other fuels. They are
extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive.
Store fuel and oil in approved containers, away from heat
and open flame, and out of the reach of children.
