A restricted check valve could also be the culprit—remove and clean or replace it. Tighten any loose fittings to eliminate air leaks. Lastly, ensure the air intake filter is clean; clean or replace it, but never operate the compressor without the filter. Refer to the "Air Filter" paragraph in the "Maintenance " section.
