Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Crane Personal Ceramic Heater, models EE-6490 and EE-6490W. It provides comprehensive information on the heater's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Crane Personal Ceramic Heater is designed for indoor, non-commercial, household use to temporarily heat residential rooms. It utilizes ceramic heating elements to provide warmth. The heater features a control knob to select between different heat settings and an indicator light to show when it is plugged into a power source. It is equipped with safety and overheat protection mechanisms that automatically shut off the unit if it becomes excessively hot or tips over.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum Power: 1200W
  • Heat Power Settings: 800W (Low Heat) / 1200W (High Heat)
  • Rating Voltage: 120 VAC / 60Hz

Usage Features:

  • Control Knob: Allows users to select between "Power Off," "Low Heat" (800W), and "High Heat" (1200W) settings.
  • Indicator Light: Illuminates when the heater is plugged into a power source, indicating it is ready for operation.
  • Placement: The heater should be placed on a flat, steady, stable, heat-resistant surface, at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) away from combustible materials like furniture, pillows, bedding, paper, clothes, and curtains. It should not be placed directly in front of or under a socket.
  • Ventilation: Always use the heater in a well-ventilated area.
  • Polarized Plug: The heater features a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) as a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock. It is designed to fit into a polarized outlet only one way.
  • Safety & Overheat Protection:
    • The unit will automatically shut down if it becomes overheated. The red indicator light will turn off, and a slight odor from the coils may be noticeable, which is normal and will subside.
    • The heater will restart automatically once it has cooled sufficiently (cool-down period can take 30-45 minutes).
    • The unit also has safeguards to shut off if it tips over.
  • Power Cord Management: Avoid allowing the power cord to hang or be placed under rugs or in high-traffic areas to prevent tripping or damage. Do not put stress on the power cord where it connects to the product.
  • First Use Odor: It is normal for the heater to emit some odor when first turned on or after a long period of disuse; this odor will dissipate shortly.
  • Warning against blocking heat: To prevent fire and overheating, never block the heat vents or cover the heater.
  • Caution against automatic switching devices: Do not use this device with a programmer, timer switch, or any other device that would switch it on automatically, due to the risk of fire if covered or incorrectly located.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Always ensure the heater is switched OFF, unplugged, and completely cooled before cleaning.
    • Clean the outside of the heater with a damp cloth and buff with a dry cloth.
    • DO NOT use detergents or abrasives.
    • DO NOT allow water to enter the heater's interior.
    • The filter can be cleaned by removing the back net cover, rinsing the filter in warm water, allowing it to dry completely, and then reinstalling it.
  • Lubrication: The fan motor is factory-lubricated and does not require additional lubrication for the product's lifespan.
  • Storage:
    • Allow the heater to cool completely before storing.
    • Store the heater and cord in a dry location.
    • Avoid placing heavy items on top of the heater during storage to prevent damage.
    • Store the cord away from metal objects.
    • Always check the plug before use to ensure no metal items have become attached.
  • Disposal: The manual emphasizes disposing of broken heaters in an environmentally friendly way at a public collection point, rather than with regular household waste, aligning with Crane USA's commitment to sustainability.

The manual also includes important safety instructions, a list of main parts (Grill Cover, Control Knob, Indicator Light, Brushed Steel Frame, Filter & Net Cover, Power Cord), and warranty information.
