Overview

The CRICKET SX3 Electric Sport Vehicle is a four-wheel, electric-powered, double-seat vehicle designed for off-road use. It is intended for recreational and light utility purposes, offering a compact and maneuverable design.

Function Description

The CRICKET SX3 serves as a personal electric sport vehicle, capable of transporting two individuals. Its primary function is to provide a compact and efficient mode of transportation in various off-road environments, including congested areas and varied terrain. The vehicle is equipped with an accelerator pedal for speed control and a forward/reverse switch for directional changes. An automatic electronic braking system ensures safe stopping. For storage and transport, the vehicle's floorboard extension can be removed, and the steering wheel can be folded down, reducing its overall length and height. The rear passenger seat is convertible, allowing it to be flipped down to serve as a cargo carrier for non-passenger loads.

Usage Features

  • Key Switch: A key switch activates power and prepares the engine for operation (one click clockwise). An additional click turns on headlights and taillights. The "OFF" position switches off all electrical circuits, allowing key removal.
  • Charge Meter: Indicates battery charge level, with "1" for full charge and "0" for no charge.
  • Rheostat Speed Control: A knob allows adjustment of the maximum speed. Turning clockwise increases speed, while counter-clockwise limits it.
  • Turn Signal: Activated by a switch on the dash.
  • Horn: Activated by a green button on the dash.
  • Freewheel Electronic Switch: Located under the front seat, this switch disengages the brake for free-wheeling operation (e.g., pushing or loading). It must be in the "OFF" position for normal driving.
  • Seating: All passengers, including the driver, must be seated while the vehicle is in use.
  • Operation: To drive, turn the key to "On," select the desired direction (Forward or Reverse) with the toggle switch, and depress the accelerator pedal.
  • Stopping: Gradually lift the foot off the accelerator pedal. The automatic electronic braking system will stop the vehicle.
  • Turning Off: After stopping, switch the key to the "Off" position.
  • Steering Shaft Installation: The steering shaft connects the upper and lower shafts, secured by a large nut. Proper alignment of the square pin is crucial.
  • Floorboard Extension Installation: The floorboard extension slides into place and is secured by two knobs, allowing for a longer vehicle configuration when needed.
  • Front Seat Back Rest Installation: The seat back support arms slide into metal slots behind the front seat and are secured with small knobs.
  • Rear Passenger Step Plate Installation: Step plate bars are inserted into the rear chassis frame tubing and secured with locking nuts.
  • Convertible Rear Passenger Seat: The rear seat can be flipped down to convert into a cargo carrier.
  • Chassis Rigidity Adjustment: Two under-chassis frame bolts can be tightened with a 17mm wrench to increase chassis rigidity for heavy loads or rough terrain, providing a firmer ride. Loosening them returns the chassis to its normal, more flexible configuration.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Charging: The on-board charging system allows for easy battery charging by plugging into a 110-volt electrical outlet. The charge light turns green when fully charged, and the unit automatically cuts off.
  • Battery Replacement: Batteries are hermetically sealed and require no maintenance. To replace, unhinge two latches at the front of the engine compartment (under the seat), slide the cover forward, and use a 13mm wrench or pliers to loosen and remove the batteries.
  • Tire Pressure: Recommended tire pressure is 8-15 PSI. Pressure should be checked and adjusted periodically by removing the wheel cover and valve stem cap.
  • General Inspection: Regular inspection of the vehicle is recommended to ensure safe operating condition. This includes following maintenance procedures and schedules outlined in the manual.
  • Storage: Store the vehicle with the key switch in the "Off" position. Do not store with the battery charger connected for more than one day.
  • Battery Care: Batteries must be charged once a week for 24 hours if not used regularly or during storage periods to maintain warranty coverage. For daily use, charge batteries for 8-14 hours after use. Maintain full charge whenever possible and an even speed during operation to extend battery life. Always turn off the Cricket and remove the key when not in use.
