  If your Criterion Ventilation Hood fan is not spinning, stuck, or rattling, it could be due to a few reasons. The thermal protection system may have detected that the motor is too hot and shut it down; in this case, the motor will function properly after it cools down (approximately 10 min). Also, check that the fan isn’t jammed or scraping the bottom. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the motor may be defective and need to be replaced.

  Several factors can cause a Criterion Ventilation Hood to not vent properly. Ensure that no birds or animals have nested in the duct. The distance between the cooktop and the bottom of the hood should be between 458 mm (18 in) and 710 mm (28 in). The duct work should follow all requirements, using round metal duct work with a uniform diameter of 177 mm (7 in), and should not exceed 35 ft (10.7 m). Reduce the length of duct work and the number of elbows if necessary, and ensure that all joints are properly connected, sealed, and taped. The duct should not open against the wind. For heavy cooking, ensure the power is on high speed. Close all windows nearest to the hood to eliminate sudden air gusts.
