Overview

The Crockpot Express XL Pressure Multicooker 7.6L (Model CPE300) is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for a wide range of cooking methods, including pressure cooking, slow cooking, steaming, browning/searing, sautéing, rice/grains cooking, boiling, and simmering. It aims to provide quick, flavorful meals with various safety features and user-friendly controls.

Function Description:

The Express XL serves as a multi-functional cooker, combining the capabilities of several kitchen appliances into one unit.

  • Pressure Cooking: This is a core function, allowing for faster cooking times by retaining steam and building pressure within a sealed cooking pot. It offers both HIGH (6.5 - 10 PSI / 45 - 70 kPa) and LOW (3.3 - 6.5 PSI / 23 - 45 kPa) pressure settings, suitable for various foods from meats and stews to delicate items like fish and vegetables. Pre-set functions like Meat/Stew, Beans/Chili, Poultry, Soup, Rice/Grains, Dessert, Steam, and Manual Pressure utilize this mode.
  • Slow Cooking: Ideal for simmering and tenderizing, this function operates without pressure, similar to traditional slow cookers. It has HIGH (2-4 hours) and LOW (6-8 hours) temperature settings. The Steam Release Valve should be in the "Release" position for this mode.
  • Steaming: Designed for gently steaming fish and vegetables, this function uses a HIGH pressure setting. It requires a minimum of 250ml of liquid and the use of the included Steaming Rack to elevate food above the water.
  • Brown/Sear & Sauté: These functions operate without pressure and do not require the lid. They provide dry heat for browning meats (Brown/Sear) to seal in juices and add color, or sautéing vegetables (Sauté) to build flavor and caramelization.
  • Rice/Grains: This function cooks various types of rice (white, brown) and grains under pressure for faster results.
  • Boiling & Simmering: These functions are intended for liquids only and do not operate under pressure. They are suitable for preparing meals like pasta, poached eggs (Boil), or thickening sauces and gravies (Simmer). Both offer LOW and HIGH temperature settings.
  • Keep Warm: Automatically activates after most cooking cycles to prevent overcooking and keep food warm for up to 4 hours.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Capacity: 7.6L cooking pot.
  • Pressure Settings: HIGH (6.5 - 10 PSI / 45 - 70 kPa) and LOW (3.3 - 6.5 PSI / 23 - 45 kPa).
  • Minimum Liquid for Pressure Cooking: 250ml.
  • Maximum Fill Line: Indicated by "MAX" on the inside of the cooking pot. For expanding foods like rice, do not exceed the 1/2 mark.
  • Power Cord: Removable.
  • Display Screen: Shows remaining cooking time, "HEAt" during preheating, and notification codes.
  • Timer Range: Up to 4 hours for Keep Warm. Delay Timer up to 4 hours.
  • Safety Features: Lid Lock Pin, Bobber Valve (indicates pressure status), Steam Release Valve (for controlled pressure release), safety sensors to prevent lid opening under pressure, and automatic shut-off after 4 hours in Keep Warm mode.

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: Features dedicated buttons for each cooking mode (e.g., Meat/Stew, Poultry, Soup, Rice/Grains, Slow Cook, Steam, Sauté, Brown/Sear, Boil, Simmer, Yogurt, Dessert, Manual Pressure).
  • Time Selection Buttons (+/-): Used to adjust cooking time or delay time. Press and release for slow adjustments, press and hold for quick adjustments.
  • TEMP/PRESSURE Button: Used to select desired cooking pressure (HIGH/LOW) or temperature (HIGH/LOW) for applicable functions.

  • Lid Assembly: Place lid, align with arrow, twist counterclockwise to lock. To unlock, twist clockwise.
  • Steam Release Valve: Has an extended finger tab for safe operation. Must be set to "Seal" for pressure cooking and "Release" for non-pressure functions (e.g., Slow Cook).
  • Pressure Release Methods:
    • Natural Pressure Release: Cooker cools down naturally, releasing pressure through the Bobber Valve. Takes 10-20 minutes depending on food volume.
    • Quick Pressure Release: Manually flick the Steam Release Valve to "Release" position using a kitchen utensil. Use with caution, as hot steam is released rapidly. Not recommended for foods high in liquid or delicate items like rice.
  • Delay Timer Function: Allows delaying the start of cooking for up to 4 hours. Not available for Brown/Sear, Sauté, Keep Warm, Boil, Simmer, or Yogurt functions, or with perishable ingredients.
  • Glass Lid (Optional): Can be used instead of the standard pressure lid for non-pressure cooking functions.
  • Cooking Pot Markings: MAX, 1/3, 1/2, and 2/3 lines for fill guidance.
  • Preheating: Display shows "HEAt" during preheating phase for pressure cooking functions. Average preheat time is 13-15 minutes.

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug and allow the cooker to cool completely before cleaning.
    • Cooking Pot: Non-stick coated, hand wash with mild detergent and soft cloth/sponge. Dishwasher safe, but outer aluminum finish may discolor. For stuck food, soak in hot soapy water. For white spots, soak in vinegar or lemon juice solution. Avoid metal utensils.
    • Lid and Sealing Gasket: Hand wash with warm, soapy water. Examine gasket for deterioration before each use. Remove gasket for cleaning and ensure it's smoothly and securely in place before reattaching. Leave lid upturned for storage to extend gasket life. Gasket may need replacement every 1-2 years.

  • Warranty: 12-month replacement or repair guarantee, in addition to consumer rights in Australia and New Zealand.
