Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Crolla Alpha child car seat, designed for children from newborn up to 7 years old (Groups 0+, I, II). It is approved according to ECE R44/04 with certificate number 04301347.

Function Description:

The Crolla Alpha is a "Universal" child restraint system designed to safely transport children in vehicles. It can be installed in both rearward-facing and forward-facing positions, depending on the child's weight and age group. The car seat features a 5-point harness system for children up to 18kg and can be used with the vehicle's 3-point safety belt for older children (15-25kg). It offers multiple recline positions to ensure comfort and safety for different age groups.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Approval: ECE R44/04, certificate no.: 04301347.
  • Weight Groups:
    • Group 0+: 0-13kg (rearward-facing with harness)
    • Group I: 9-18kg (forward-facing with harness)
    • Group II: 15-25kg (forward-facing with vehicle's 3-point safety belt)
  • Dimensions:
    • Length: 510mm
    • Width: 610mm
    • Height: 468mm
  • Weight of Child Seat: 5.5kg
  • Installation: Suitable for vehicles equipped with 3-point safety-belts approved to UN/ECE Regulation No.16 or equivalent standards.
  • Airbag Warning: Not to be used in seating positions where an active airbag is installed.

Usage Features:

  • Installation Positions:
    • Rearward-facing: For children less than 13kg (Group 0+), using a three-point lap and diagonal seat belt. The child seat should be adjusted to position 4 (baby mode) and firmly pressed against the car seat backrest. The vehicle's shoulder and lap belts are threaded through designated slots and secured with a lock-off device.
    • Forward-facing (with harness): For children 9kg to 18kg (Group I), using a three-point lap and diagonal seat belt. The child seat is placed forward-facing, pressed against the car seat backrest. The vehicle's shoulder and lap belts are threaded through designated slots and secured with a lock-off device.
    • Forward-facing (without harness): For children 15kg to 25kg (Group II), the internal harness, crotch strap, and lap strap are removed. The child is placed in the safety seat, and the vehicle's 3-point lap and diagonal seat belt is used to secure both the child and the car seat. The shoulder belt passes through the shoulder belt guide, and the waist belt passes through the seat slots. Only position 1 is suitable for Group II.
  • Harness System:
    • Buckling: Two metal sections of the buckle connector are joined and engaged until they click. The harness is checked by pulling the shoulder straps upwards.
    • Releasing: Press the red button of the buckle downwards to release the two metal sections.
    • Loosening: Press the adjuster (under the adjuster cover) on the front of the seat while gripping the two shoulder straps and pulling them towards you.
    • Tightening: Pull the shoulder straps upwards to remove slack, then pull the adjuster strap until the harness is fully tightened. This should be checked each time the child is placed in the seat.
  • Shoulder Strap Height Adjustment: Always ensure the shoulder straps are at the correct height, threaded through the slots closest to the top of the child's shoulders.
  • Headrest Adjustment: The headrest locator can be pulled out to adjust the headrest height up and down, ensuring it fits the child's shoulder height. The shoulder strap height changes accordingly.
  • Recline Positions:
    • One recline angle for baby mode (recline angle number 4), marked with blue triangles.
    • Three recline angles (1-3) for toddler mode, marked with red triangles.
    • Three recline angles (1-3) for junior mode, also marked with red triangles.
    • The recline position is adjusted by pressing the red recline adjustment handle.
  • Crotch Pad and Buckle Removal: To remove the crotch pad and buckle, adjust the child seat to position 4, turn it to the bottom, and thread the harness locking clip through the slot under the bottom of the child seat. This allows for removal of the crotch pad, buckle, and harness straps.

Maintenance Features:

  • Daily Maintenance:
    • Periodically check the child seat.
    • Replace the child seat after an accident.
    • Store in a dry and ventilated place to avoid dampness and mold.
    • Clean dusty seat belts and plastic parts with a damp sponge and allow to air dry.
