Why my Cub Cadet 18M 19-inch Lawn Mower engine fails to start?
    • Z
      Zachary DavisJul 29, 2025
There are several reasons why your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine might fail to start. First, ensure that the blade control is engaged. Check that the spark plug boot is connected to the spark plug. If the fuel tank is empty or contains stale fuel, fill it with clean, fresh gasoline. Make sure the choke is activated as instructed. Inspect the spark plug; clean, adjust the gap, or replace it if necessary. A blocked fuel line could also be the culprit, so clean it out. Lastly, if the engine is flooded, wait a few minutes before attempting to restart.

If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine runs erratically, start by checking the spark plug boot and ensure it's tightly connected. Clean the fuel line and refill the tank with fresh gasoline if the fuel is stale or the line is blocked. Also, make sure the vent in the gas cap isn't plugged; clear it if it is. Drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel if there's water or dirt in the fuel system. Push the choke knob in to disengage it, in case the unit is running with the choke applied.
