Why won't my Cub Cadet S6031 engine start?
    • O
      ophillipsAug 13, 2025
If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine fails to start, several issues could be the cause. Make sure the PTO is disengaged, and the parking brake is engaged. Check that the spark plug wires are correctly connected and the throttle control lever is in the fast position. Also, verify that the LPG tank isn't empty or contains stale fuel, and that the fuel hose isn't blocked. A faulty spark plug could also be the culprit, or the engine might be flooded. To resolve these, disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake, connect the spark plug wires, place the throttle lever in the fast position, replace the LPG tank, clean the fuel hose, clean or replace the spark plug, or crank the engine with the throttle in the FAST position if it's flooded.

If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower isn't mulching grass effectively, the issue could stem from a few factors. Ensure the engine speed is set to FAST. Avoid mulching when the grass is wet. If the grass is excessively high, mow it once at a higher cutting height before mowing again at the desired height, or reduce the cutting swath. Lastly, check the blade; if it's dull, sharpen or replace it.
