Overview

This document describes the RCA RDR323 Tumble Dryer, a household appliance designed for drying textile materials washed in water.

Function Description:

The RCA RDR323 Tumble Dryer is designed to dry clothes efficiently. Users can select from various programs based on clothing material and quantity, including "Extra," "Smart," and "One Hour" cycles. The dryer offers temperature selection options (60°C, 40°C, and air-drying) for timing programs. It features a "Start/Stop" button to initiate and pause drying cycles, allowing for the addition or removal of clothes during operation. The dryer incorporates a cool-down cycle at the end of each program to ensure items are left at a safe temperature and prevent damage.

    • Extra Program: For cotton, weaving clothes, jeans, and bedsheets, with a maximum load of 4.4 lbs at 60°C, 40°C, or air-drying, and a maximum dry time of 60 minutes.
  • Loading: It is recommended to place items into the dryer one at a time to prevent tangling and ensure even drying. The door should be closed securely without items jammed in it.
  • Pre-Drying Preparation:
    • Check items for combustible materials or foreign objects (lighters, hairpins, coins) before drying.
    • Turn items with zippers inside out and fasten buckles.
    • Ensure stains are removed before drying, as heat may permanently set them.
    • Separate dark and light-colored items.
    • Load similar fabrics together for best results.
    • Place small delicate items in a mesh bag.
    • Do not overload the dryer.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Do not dry unwashed items.
    • Items soiled with cooking oil, acetone, alcohol, petrol, kerosene, spot removers, turpentine, waxes, or wax removers should be washed in hot water with extra detergent before drying.
    • Fabric softeners should be used as specified by their instructions.
    • Never stop the dryer before the end of the drying cycle unless all items are quickly removed and spread out to dissipate heat.
    • Delicate items should be placed in a nylon net bag.
    • Do not add items while the dryer is in operation.
    • For large items like blankets, it is recommended to periodically open the door, shake the item, and reposition it for even drying.
    • Remove all objects from pockets.
    • Do not use the dryer if industrial chemicals have been used for cleaning.
    • Ensure adequate ventilation to prevent backflow of gases from other fuel-burning appliances.
    • Do not dry foam rubber (latex foam), shower caps, rubber-backed articles, or pillows with foam rubber pads.
    • The appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device (e.g., timer) or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by a utility.
    • Do not install the appliance behind a lockable door, sliding door, or a door with a hinge on the opposite side that restricts full opening of the dryer door.
  • Installation:
    • Place the dryer in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from heat and direct sunlight.
    • If not wall-mounted, place it on firm, horizontal ground, not on carpet, ensuring at least 13 cm clearance from walls.
    • If rack-mounted (bracket not included), a secure bracket is required for stability, ensuring at least 13 cm clearance from walls.
    • Wall mounting instructions are provided, including tools required (Drill & 3mm Bit, Philips Head Screw Driver, Wood Screws, Helper to lift dryer onto wall) and a Wall Mounting Kit (Hanging brackets, Plastic Spacers, Exhaust connector, 55mm Long Screws). A minimum 50mm clearance is needed between the top of the dryer and the ceiling. If mounting above a washing machine, allow sufficient room to open the washer lid.

Maintenance Features:

  • Lint Filter Cleaning: The lint filter must be cleaned before each use.
    • Removal: Pull outwards with fingers inserted into the four holes around the exhaust vent shroud. The filter consists of three parts: exhaust vent shroud, lint filter, and exhaust filter. The filter fixed at the bottom of the drum should also be cleaned.
    • Cleaning: Separate the exhaust vent shroud, lint filter, and exhaust filter. Clean the lint with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. Do not damage the filters.
    • Re-installation: Assemble in the sequence of exhaust filter, lint filter, then exhaust vent shroud, aligning recesses with projections in the drum center, ensuring it is firmly inserted.
  • Air Intake Filter Cleaning: The air intake filter should be cleaned once a month.
    • Removal: Pull outwards holding the upper and lower ends of the air intake shroud. Remove the filter inside the shroud and clean it with a soft brush.
    • Reassembly: Reassemble and install as before.
  • Interior & Exterior Cleaning:
    • Do not wash directly with water.
    • Do not use thinner, gasoline, alcohol, or any type of spray cleaner for the interior.
    • If the drum is stained, clean it with a damp cloth.
    • Clean the cabinet with mild soap and water. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners.
  • Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting guide is provided for common issues like the program not working, drum not turning, no hot air, laundry not thoroughly dried, or the dryer not starting, along with possible causes and solutions. For example, if the program does not work, the power cord might not be inserted firmly. If the drum does not turn, the door might be open, the power cord might not be inserted, or the receptacle might not have power. If hot air is not blowing out, the program might be incorrectly set. If laundry is not thoroughly dried, filters might be clogged, there might be too much laundry, items might have been added during operation, laundry might be twisted, or the dryer might be in a poorly ventilated area. If the dryer does not start, there might be a power failure, the power cord might not be inserted firmly, the door might be open, or the program might be in the OFF position. An "E1" LED display indicates the door is open.
