Usage Features
Touch Controls:
The controls are touch-responsive, requiring no pressure. Use the ball of your finger, not the tip. A beep will sound with each registered touch. Ensure controls are clean, dry, and free from obstructions (e.g., utensils, cloth, or even a thin film of water).
Starting to Cook:
- Touch the ON/OFF control. The hob will beep once, and all displays will show "—" or "--", indicating standby mode.
- Place a suitable pan on the desired cooking zone. Ensure the pan bottom and cooking zone surface are clean and dry.
- Select a heat setting by touching the "-" or "+" control. If no setting is chosen within 1 minute, the hob will automatically switch off. The heat setting can be adjusted at any time during cooking.
Pan Detection:
If the display flashes "U" alternately with the heat setting, it indicates:
- No pan is placed on the correct cooking zone.
- The pan is unsuitable for induction cooking.
- The pan is too small or not properly centered.
Heating will not occur without a suitable pan. The display will turn off automatically after 2 minutes if no suitable pan is detected.
Finishing Cooking:
- Turn off a cooking zone by scrolling down to "0" or touching the "-" and "+" controls together until "0" is displayed.
- Turn off the entire cooktop by touching the ON/OFF control.
Hot Surface Indicator:
An "H" will appear on the display to indicate a cooking zone is hot to touch. This disappears when the surface cools to a safe temperature and can be used as an energy-saving function to heat further pans.
Locking the Controls:
To prevent unintended use (e.g., by children), the controls can be locked. When locked, all controls except ON/OFF are disabled.
- To lock: Touch the keylock control. The timer indicator will show "Lo".
- To unlock: Ensure the hob is on, then touch and hold the keylock control for a while.
In lock mode, only the ON/OFF control remains active for emergency shutdown. The hob must be unlocked for subsequent operation.
Timer Functionality:
The timer can be used in two ways:
- Minute Minder: Does not turn off any cooking zone. Set for up to 99 minutes.
- Ensure the cooktop is on.
- Touch "+" on the timer controls. The minder indicator will flash, and "10" will appear.
- Adjust time with "-" or "+" (single touch for 1 minute, hold for 10 minutes). Time exceeding 99 minutes resets to 00.
- To cancel, touch "-" and "+" together; "00" will display.
- Once set, the timer counts down, and the indicator flashes for 5 seconds.
- A buzzer will sound for 30 seconds, and the indicator shows "--" when finished.
- Cooking Zone Timer: Turns off a specific cooking zone after the set time.
- Touch "-" or "+" of the corresponding cooking zone to set the timer.
- Adjust time as with the minute minder.
- To cancel, touch "-" and "+" together; "00" will display.
- When the timer expires, the cooking zone switches off automatically. Other zones continue operating.
Cooking Guidelines:
- Reduce temperature setting when food boils.
- Use a lid to reduce cooking times and save energy.
- Minimize liquid or fat for reduced cooking times.
- Start on high, then reduce setting once food is heated through.
- Simmering: Around 85°C.
- Searing Steak: Preheat heavy-based pan, oil steak, cook 2-8 minutes per side depending on desired doneness, rest on warm plate.
- Stir-frying: Use induction-compatible wok/frying pan, prepare ingredients, cook in batches, preheat pan with oil, cook meat first, then vegetables, return meat, add sauce, stir gently, serve immediately.
Heat Settings (Guidelines):
- 1-2: Delicate warming, melting chocolate/butter, gentle simmering, slow warming.
- 3-4: Reheating, rapid simmering, cooking rice.
- 5-6: Pancakes, sautéing.
- 7-8: Cooking pasta.
- 9: Stir-frying, searing, bringing soup to boil, boiling water.
Maintenance Features
Care and Cleaning:
- Everyday Soiling (fingerprints, marks, food stains):
- Switch off cooktop.
- Apply cooktop cleaner while glass is warm (not hot).
- Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
- Switch cooktop back on.
- Important: Hot surface indicator may not show when off; exercise extreme care. Avoid heavy-duty scourers or abrasive cleaners. Do not leave cleaning residue.
- Boilovers, Melts, Hot Sugary Spills: Remove immediately with a fish slice, palette knife, or razor blade scraper.
- Switch off cooktop at wall.
- Hold blade at 30° angle, scrape soiling to a cool area.
- Clean with dish cloth or paper towel.
- Follow steps for 'Everyday soiling'.
- Important: Remove stains as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage. Scraper blades are sharp; use with extreme care and store safely.
- Spillovers on Touch Controls:
- Switch off cooktop.
- Soak up spill.
- Wipe control area with damp sponge/cloth.
- Wipe area completely dry with paper towel.
- Switch cooktop back on.
- Important: Cooktop may beep and turn off if liquid is on controls.
Troubleshooting (Hints and Tips):
- Hob not turning on: Check power supply, ensure it's switched on. Call technician if problem persists.
- Unresponsive controls: Unlock controls, ensure touch area is dry, use ball of finger.
- Glass scratched: Use flat, smooth-based cookware. Avoid abrasive scourers.
- Crackling/clicking noises: Normal for some cookware.
- Low humming noise: Normal for induction cooking on high heat; reduces with lower settings.
- Fan noise: Normal cooling fan operation. Do not switch off power at wall while fan is running.
- Pans not heating/displaying "U": Use suitable induction cookware, center pan, ensure base matches zone size.
- Hob turns off unexpectedly/error code: Note error code, switch off power at wall, contact qualified technician.
Failure Display and Inspection:
The hob enters a protective state and displays codes for abnormalities:
- F3-F8: Temperature sensor failure. Contact supplier.
- F9-FE: IGBT temperature sensor failure. Contact supplier.
- E1/E2: Abnormal supply voltage. Inspect power supply, restart.
- E3/E4: Abnormal temperature. Inspect pot.
- E5/E6: Bad induction hob heat radiation. Restart after hob cools down.
Do not disassemble the unit yourself.
