The Cyklos GPM 450 SA is a semi-automatic creasing and perforating machine designed for the final processing of graphic materials up to 450 mm in width. Its primary function is to enable easy folding of paper through creasing and to allow for easy separation of paper through waste-less perforation. The machine is built to comply with international standards and regulations for machine tools, and for machines exported to the European Economic Area (EEA), it comes with a "Declaration of Conformity" and CE marking, indicating adherence to Directive 98/37/EC.

Function Description

The GPM 450 SA performs both creasing and perforating operations. Creasing is achieved by pressing paper into a creasing channel, while perforation involves using a perforating knife. The machine is designed for work in automatic cycles, with the operator monitoring the process, replacing materials, and checking measurements. The machine is pre-adjusted for creasing by the manufacturer, but the operator can change the knife and turn the square bar to switch to perforation.

The machine features a touch screen interface for setting up operations. Users can select the number of creases/perforations (segments) up to 15, and define the position of each segment relative to the edge of the sheet. Special fold types, such as 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 folds, and a dedicated "book cover" function, are also available. The book cover function is unique, creating four creases in the middle of the sheet with fixed 6 mm distances between the first and second, and third and fourth creases, while the distance between the second and third creases is adjustable based on book thickness.

The software allows for saving and loading up to five different programs, making it easy to recall frequently used settings. The machine also includes a counter to track the number of processed sheets, which can be reset.

For manual control, the machine offers "Forward" and "Backward" functions to release jammed paper, and a "1 turn" function for a control upstroke, useful for checking and adjusting creasing or perforating quality.

The GPM 450 SA is designed for ease of use with a touch screen interface.

• Language selection: The display allows selection from multiple languages including English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΑ, Порусски, and Česky.
• Program settings: Users can set the number and position of segments via a numeric keypad. Predefined fold types simplify common tasks.
• Program saving and loading: Up to five programs can be saved and loaded, enhancing workflow efficiency for recurring jobs.
• Working cycle: The operator adjusts movable side guides and magnetic strips according to paper size. The machine starts the cycle, and a control light indicates its status (red for processing, green when ready for more paper).

Maintenance Features

• Ram adjustment: The ram, which holds the perforating or creasing tool, can be adjusted using two adjusting screws. This allows for fine-tuning the depth of the crease or perforation. The screws should be loosened gradually (1/12 revolution, approx. 30°) to move the bar down, then fastened. Regular checks of perforating/creasing quality are recommended after each adjustment.
• Tool change: To switch between creasing and perforating, the machine must be unplugged, and the upper cover lifted. This involves dismounting locking screws, lifting the hinged pressing mechanism, and then dismounting hexagonal screws and the clamp to replace the knife. The square bar must be set with the flat side up for perforation.
• Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common faults such as upstroke stoppage and paper jams. For upstroke stoppage, adjusting screws need to be turned clockwise to raise the ram. For paper jams, the machine should be turned off, and the "MOVE" icon used to perform an upstroke before clearing the paper using "Backward" or "Forward" buttons.
• Crease position inaccuracies: The manual highlights the importance of using the recommended creasing channel width for different paper thicknesses to avoid inaccuracies. Using a narrow creasing channel for thick paper can cause the paper to be pressed too hard, leading to roller slippage and incorrect crease placement.
• Disposal: At the end of its lifetime, the machine must not be disposed of with common waste. It requires disassembly and sorting of metallic, non-metallic, plastic, rubber, and electronic parts for recycling, as some components may contain hazardous substances.
