Usage Features
The cooktop is operated via touch controls. Each element has an ON/OFF key and heat level control keys (UP/DOWN arrows for ETT models, Electric Glide™ control for MET models).
- Turning on an element: Press the ON/OFF key for the desired element, then select the heat level. ETT models start at setting "5"; MET models use a number key or sliding finger on the Electric Glide™ control.
- Dual element operation: For dual elements (left front on all models), activate the inner element first, then press the outer element key (circle) to activate the outer heating element. The outer element cannot be operated alone.
- Bridge element operation (METB365-1): Turn on the right front and right rear elements, then press the bridge element key. The bridge element's heat setting is controlled in combination with the right front element.
- Turning off an element: Press the ON/OFF key for that element. To turn off all elements at once, press the Dacor logo key (ETT models) or the CANCEL • SECURE key (MET models) rapidly twice.
- Cooktop Lock Feature: To prevent accidental activation or make it difficult for children to operate, the controls can be locked.
- Locking: Press and hold the Dacor logo key (ETT models) or CANCEL • SECURE key (MET models) for approximately three seconds. The cooktop will beep three times, and a light behind the key will indicate locked status.
- Unlocking: Press and hold the same key again for three seconds. Three beeps will sound, and the indicator light will turn off.
- Cookware Selection: Medium to heavy-gauge metal cookware with flat, smooth bottoms is recommended for best efficiency. Cookware should match the element diameter and have tight-fitting lids. Certain types of glass, ceramic, and earthenware may not be suitable.
- Safety Precautions:
- Do not operate if the ceramic glass top is broken or pitted.
- Avoid touching hot surfaces.
- Do not block airflow passages.
- Do not use as a space heater.
- Never cover slots or holes with aluminum foil.
- Keep children and pets away from the cooktop.
- Do not store flammable or explosive materials near the cooktop.
- Use caution when deep fat frying.
- Do not allow items that melt easily (plastic, aluminum foil, sugar) to come into direct contact with the glass surface.
- Avoid placing sharp-edged cookware or sliding cookware across the surface.
- Do not place large pots or griddles across two elements (except for the bridge element on METB365-1) to prevent cracking.
Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the cooktop's performance and appearance.
- Daily Cleaning:
- Ensure all elements are off and cool before cleaning.
- Lock the cooktop controls during cleaning.
- Apply about 1½ teaspoons of a non-abrasive cleaner, such as Dacor Cooktop Cleaning Creme (Part No. A300), to the ceramic glass surface with a lightly dampened clean cloth.
- Use a second clean cloth to remove any residue, then wipe with a dry cloth to eliminate moisture.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbers, which can cause permanent damage.
- Removing Heavy or Burned-on Spills:
- Allow the cooktop to cool completely.
- Use a razor blade scraper held at a 30° angle to gently scrape off substances.
- Remove any remaining residue with Dacor Cooktop Cleaning Creme.
- Be careful not to scratch or gouge the surface.
- Discoloration: A film from sponges or dishcloths may cause discoloration during the next heating cycle. Remove it with the recommended cleaner when the cooktop is cool.
- General Maintenance:
- Keep the cooktop, ventilation filters, and range hood free of grease.
- Do not use sharp objects (knives, metal spatulas) to remove spills.
- Do not allow acids (citrus juices, tomato sauces) to remain on the surface, as they may stain.
- Do not use the cooktop surface as a cutting board.
